MOSCOW, IDAHO: As the process to transport the suspect in the University of Idaho murders, Bryan Kohberger, is currently underway, several users on social media are wondering if the investigators have really caught the 'right' guy. One such user wrote on Twitter, giving his reasoning on why he believes that Bryan Kohberger might be innocent. The user wrote, "I really hope they have the right guy with Bryan Kohberger. Im confused about the motive. He kept his normal routine after the murders. He was not injured with cuts even though two of the victims had defensive wounds and we are told the killer used extreme force with a knife.”

Such confusion is natural given the facts released in previous police reports stating that out of the four victims, who were tragically killed on November 13, Xana Kernodle, 20, reportedly had suffered defensive wounds on her body according to the autopsy report, and had probably given the killer a hard time before she died. The initial coroner's report also stated that all four victims were probably asleep when they were attacked, although injuries on the bodies indicated they had made an effort to protect themselves.

Several users also came out and discussed this possibility on various social media platforms, where one person wrote, “As it has been said one of the victims had defense wounds and it seems that victim was Xana. Could it be that she was the only victim to make a noise thus causing the killer to be “spooked” and not continue down to the lower floors? It would only make sense if she was the last victim which isn’t clear but could mean it wasn’t due to the other roommates not being part of the targeted act but more a crime of opportunity. Her response caused the killer to cut the killing short and to leave rather than continue.”

Earlier, authorities had stated that they will withhold information about their investigation until a trial requires it to be made public. As of now, Kohberger, a PhD candidate in criminology at Pullman's Washington State University, is not known to have a connection to any of the four murder victims. Investigators reportedly used public genealogical databases to hunt for the murder suspect after Kohberger’s DNA was reportedly found at the crime scene.

Kohberger was detained on December 30 at his parents' Pennsylvania home and will be taken to Idaho to face the charges against him. The murder accusation was described as "a little out of character" for Kohberger, according to public defender Jason LaBar, who defended the murder suspect during his extradition hearing. LaBar also stated that his client anticipates being exonerated. "He said this is not him. He believes he's going to be exonerated. That's what he believes, those were his words,” LaBar remarked.
