LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Maria Seiren's vocal power exceeds the musical spectrum. 'America's Got Talent' viewers, on the other hand, were underwhelmed by the 'Japan's Got Talent' winner.

One of Mel B's most intriguing picks for her 'AGT: Fantasy League' Dream Team was opera singer Maria, who demonstrated why she's a force to be reckoned with in her stunning audition during the inaugural episode.

The Judges' eyes fell with wonder after hearing her audition and high notes. She earned a standing ovation, and although it came from his season opponent, Mel B, Simon Cowell had to acknowledge that it was a very remarkable performance.

Yet, Howie Mandel was not on board and thought the performance was not "great."

On X, fans wrote, "Honestly, Barbara Padilla or Marcelito Pomoy should have had Maria's spot." Another user chimed in, "I didn’t like it."

One user also wrote of the performance, "Nope. No chills." While a fourth user felt, "Worst of nite. Close with Hans."

Who is 'AGT: Fantasy League's Maria Seiren?

Maria, an opera singer, has been performing professionally in the Tokyo music scene for over a decade. She is the artistic director of Mondo Parallelo, an opera company.

She won the first-ever 'Japan's Got Talent' final in February. What distinguishes her abilities, particularly in the opera world, is her ability to float between tenor and soprano vocal registers and sing both male and female roles in operatic masterpieces with ease.

Prior to her 'Japan Got Talent' victory, she made her singing debut in December 2015 at Suntory Hall (Blue Rose) with the Tokyo Vivaldi Ensemble.

Where does the name Maria Seiren come from?

In an interview with Tokyo Weekender, she explained the origins of her stage name.

"Seiren comes from the mythological Greek figure of the siren, which was originally a form of winged demon that would sing songs to deceive people, but that eventually evolved into more of a mermaid-type creature that would try to seduce sailors with their songs. And the name Maria comes from the Virgin Mary," she said.

"So, within one person, there is the capacity for different states of being. Good and evil, purity and impurity, life and death, man and woman. The idea that we can move fluidly between these parallels is one of the major themes of my work, and it really embodies who I am," Maria remarked.

Unfortunately, her abilities didn't quite carry her to the quarterfinals of 'AGT: Fantasy League'. However, like everyone else in the program, she's certain to have a long and successful career ahead of her.

Maria thinks she is never entirely alone on stage because of all the time and effort put in by others to make her ready.

"I trust a lot of people to work on my hair, make-up, and outfits," she told Tokyo Weekender, "and we also consult with audience members to find out what really works."

'America's Got Talent: Fantasy League' airs on Mondays on NBC at 8 pm ET.
