Internet calls host Sunny Hostin 'misogynistic' as 'The View' panel discusses woman’s marital conflict
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘The View’ co-hosts engaged in a discussion concerning a woman's marital predicament on September 13. The central topic was her brother-in-law's inappropriate advances toward her, a matter elaborated upon by the moderator, Whoopi Goldberg.
While the majority of the 'Hot Topics' segment maintained a light-hearted tone and was marked by playful innuendos, Sunny Hostin faced significant criticism from viewers for highlighting that the woman in question had engaged in a romantic relationship with her spouse's brother prior to their marriage.
Goldberg and the viewers alike called Hostin out for her specific comment, but she remained steadfast in her stance on the matter.

On 'The View,' Whoopi Goldberg initiated the discussion by presenting a topic to her fellow co-hosts: “A woman wrote, asking 'The Washington Post,' if she should tell her husband that his brother made a pass at her at dinner.”
This immediately garnered a response from the audience and Sunny Hostin looked shocked, “Everybody said yes that quick?”
Goldberg continued, “She was checking on the meat.” Once again, the audience erupted in laughter as Alyssa Farah Griffin air-quoted Goldberg’s statement. Joy Behar responded, “No, she wasn't.”
Goldberg picked up her cue cards and showed Behar exactly what was written, after which Griffin asked, “Who made the pass?” Goldberg once again said, “He made the pass while she was checking on the meat.”
There was a little back and forth between the co-hosts and Sara Haines pointed out, “he is going through a divorce.” At this point, Hostin interjected, “Does it change the audience's mind to know she messed around with the brother before she…”
Before Hostin could finish her sentence, Goldberg interrupted her, “Don’t say it like that. They dated.”
Hostin corrected herself and said, “They dated before she got married to his brother.” Behar who sat next to Hostin claimed that was “irrelevant.” Behar continued to defend the woman and Hostin doubled down, “but the brothers seem to share a lot of things.”
Goldberg decided to end the segment, despite Hostin’s interruption, “I'm going to stop that because we don't know that to be a fact. We don't know. All we know is that at one point, they dated. We don't know that there was anything other than that going on.”

Viewers weren’t impressed with Sunny Hostin after this particular segment as one person wrote, “Sunny is very misogynistic wtf,” while another commented, “If the gender roles were opposite, Sunny would have had a completely different reaction… 🙄🙄🙄.”
One person even labeled Hostin “shady” as they wrote, “Silly topics like this bring out the personalities. Joy seems straightforward and Sunny seems shady.”
“It’s so hypocritical of Sunny, the Sunny that defends women and says that women need to be empowered is the same Sunny that, when a topic like this comes up, blames women. They need to replace Sunny it’s been a while now that she’s been so obnoxious on the panel,” wrote another user.
Viewers continued to slam Hostin as one said, “I usually like Sunny but here she is giving very petty and jealous-minded. SO what if she dated the brother? that was before either one of them was married. this does not give him a pass to touch her inappropriately NOR does it allow for Sunny to insinuate anything about the woman.”
Another user commented, “What's wrong with sunny, you aren’t funny.”
