NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congressman Matt Gaetz has recently issued a statement following the vote on his amendment to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill.

The amendment, which aimed to prevent funds from being used for acquiring property for a new FBI headquarters, failed with a vote of 145 to 273 in the US House of Representatives.

Gaetz reportedly attempted to block $375 million in funding for a new FBI headquarters, but his amendment was unsuccessful in the end.

Following this event, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity took to X (formerly Twitter) to report on Gaetz and alleged he was “torching FBI.”

Apparently, the internet responded against Gaetz’s attempt to stop cash for the new FBI HQ as several X users took a brutal jab at the Rep.

Sean Hannity says Matt Gaetz ‘torched FBI’

Fox News anchor Sean Hannity took to X and wrote, “GAETZ: “I don’t believe that the FBI deserves a massive new headquarters or Washington field office…building a new headquarters would condone, reinforce and enable the Washington field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s nefarious behavior."

Hannity’s tweet presented an article from his official website titled, “GAETZ TORCHES FBI: No Cash for New HQ for 'Nefarious' Feds, 'The Country is Crumbling' [WATCH].”

In the article, it was reported that during the session on amendments to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act for 2024, Florida Representative Matt Gaetz argued against allocating any funds to the FBI for a new headquarters in Washington DC, describing the allocation as supporting the "nefarious" activities of the agency.

He released a statement after the failed vote to adopt his amendment, “Time after time we have seen the FBI target President Trump, people who believe in the Second Amendment, parents attending school board meetings, and more recently, some of their own brave FBI whistleblowers who have spoken up about the weaponization of our Federal Government.”

“We should not be awarding nefarious behavior by wasting hundreds of millions of dollars for a new headquarters in the DC area.”

He concluded, “Although my amendment failed, I will continue my fight to defang and defund government agencies that have been weaponized against the American people.”

Internet dubs Matt Gaetz ‘traitor’

After Sean Hannity reported on Matt Gaetz’s attempt to stop cash funds for new FBI HQ, the internet took a brutal jab at the US representative.

One person wrote, “Why is he in support of defunding police now?” and another said, “I can't wait till they arrest you.”

A person mocked Gaetz using his own words, “You mean your nefarious behavior.”

One more called out Gaetz adding, “And Matt doesn’t deserve the pay he receive es.,” and another wrote, “Cuz… Matt Gaetz is criminal and don’t like FBI.”

One said, “Arrest Gaetz for being a traitor and a disgrace to America.”
