Internet abuzz as 'Morning Joe' hosts report on ex-Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis' guilty plea in Georgia case
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: After former Donald Trump's attorney Sidney Powell pleaded guilty in the Georgia Trump election case, Jenna Ellis, who also worked on the 2020 Trump campaign, pleaded guilty to a criminal charge in the same case, as reported by CNBC.
MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin spoke to ‘Morning Joe’ host Willie Geist as the news broke out, following which Geist debriefed on the same with Joe Scarborough.
Geist and Scarborough discuss the “key players” of the “attempted coup” as Scarborough questions “How could lawyers be doing this?”
Following the ‘Morning Joe’ report on Ellis, the internet was quick to respond.
Joe Scarborough asks ‘how could lawyers do this’
Willie Geist started his conversation with Joe Scarborough by talking about the “key players” in Trump’s case, “Joe, another one. We had Sidney Powell last week, and now Jenna Ellis, when you think back to November, December, and January, of 2020 and 2021, these were the key players who were playing the games in an attempted coup, and now facing the possibility of prison time, have decided they’re not going to jail for Donald Trump.”
“And once again, I must say, while all this was going on, how could lawyers be doing this?” asked Scarborough,
He continued, “How could they be going into courtrooms, saying things that are lies, making a mockery of the judicial system, and not paying a price for it, at least with the bar? They are now, and we’re seeing one at a time take that plea deal.”
Scarborough shed a little more light on Ellis, who, “Unlike Giuliani, and even the lady from Kraken, Jenna Ellis did not really have the legal background that would have suggested she had been working with a President in this situation, but not completely surprising that she has taken this deal.”
Internet reacts to Jenna Ellis’ pleading guilty
As Jennis Ellis entered a plea deal in the Georgia election case, the internet was quick to respond following the ‘Morning Joe’ report on MSNBC.
One user wrote, “When the lawyers admit to guilt the client is in bigly trouble.”
“I am waiting for a ‘I never knew her. She was never my lawyer’ from Trump any minute now,” commented one user and another said, “Being an attorney for Donnie is not only hazardous but a career-ender.”
One user wrote, “This is what happens when a bunch of people with very little integrity come together,” and another said, “We knew this was coming, and we are here for it.”
People have continued to express their thoughts on the breaking news, as one wrote, “I think Getting Trumped’ could become legal world slang for “I decided to lie blatantly in court for my client and now I can’t practice law?”
