Female inmates at the HM Prison Peterborough are reportedly terrified after a transgender pedophile has been transferred to the woman's prison, despite her history of grooming underage girls.

The transgender, identified as 51-year-old Michelle Lewin, who was born as Shaun Pudwell, was imprisoned for grooming underage girls in 2007 and she is now awaiting a gender reassignment surgery after being transferred to a woman's prison, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports state that most of the female inmates are scared because of the way Lewin looks and she is also physically much stronger than the rest of the inmates.



 

"A lot of the women are genuinely terrified of her. Lewin's a serious sex offender and she's physically much stronger.There are female inmates in there who have been raped and they are scared of her," a source told The Sun.

The prison houses a total of 400 women prisoners and many of them are former abuse victims or feel very vulnerable.

Reports state that Lewin, who is legally female, was married in prison at HM Prison Elmley in Kent in 2014 to Mark Lewin. Mark was imprisoned again in 2015 for posession of indecent images of children, and has been released since then, according to reports.

Mark Lewin, while talking to The Sun, said: "She's been moved because she is legally female." It is believed that there have been no issues regarding Lewin being in the women's prison till now.

According to the latest figures, there were at least 125 trangender prisoners in England and Wales till the end of March 2017. Reports state that this number shows a significant increase from 70 transgender prisoners in 2016.
