'Ink Master: Turf War': Fans say Nychelle was eliminated instead of Jason as show makers want more drama from him
'Ink Master: Turf War' has returned with an exciting new season in which 20 skilled tattoo artists have been divided into four teams of five people each — South, East, Midwest, West.
Each episode, they'll be given themed challenges and will later be judged by Dave Navarro, Chris Nunez, and Oliver Peck based on their art and technicality. Once done, 12 safe contestants are picked and the remaining eight are put on another challenge that'll determine their longevity on the show.
This week started off with artists creating tattoos that represented their home states. Unfortunately, there was plenty the judges weren't impressed with and finally had to pick from a mediocre lot. However, Angel Rose's tattoo stood out and was ranked #1 by the experts.
"Okay, with that anger out of the way I'm actually kinda not surprised Angel got the #1 Ranked tattoo... again Goddamn, why does she have to be so good with Black and Grey? #InkMaster," a fan wrote. "Her state tattoo was awesome beautiful work girl!"
She hit a home run with her work, but Nychelle Elise was in for a surprise when the judges picked her tattoo to be the least impressive of the lot and sent her packing. She made a bell that hung from a wooden surface. In her green room interview, the artist said it was all new for her because she hadn't done a reflective surface before, but also assured her client that emulating wood is easier.
As the judges discussed among themselves, Nychelle presented her case saying her technical skills were better than Emac, adding that he had a lot of help from other people just to draw a bunch of arrows. However, Oliver and Chris both picked Nychelle over Jason Elliott, who David thought didn't do a great job with his patriotic masterpiece.
Meanwhile, fans think Nychelle was picked over Jason because the makers want drama and the latter has given a lot of it right in the maiden episode.
Jason has been vocal about his opinions and is also seen indulging in the game aspect of the show rather than investing his energies in upping his tattooing game. He has already ticked off a bunch of fellow participants and the audience too isn't very pleased with his approach.
"I personally liked both of Nychelle’s tattoos better than either of Jason’s. I feel like they kept Jason to keep the drama in the show. #InkMaster #InkMasterTurfWars," a fan wrote. "I would've liked to see nychelle continue @inkmaster #InkMaster," another expressed.
