Daniel Silva gets probation in Corey La Barrie's death case, Internet says 'this is what money can get you'

La Barrie, who started his YouTube channel in 2018 and quickly amassed more than 300,000 subscribers, died on May 10, 2020, in a car wreck as Daniel was drunk driving

'Ink Master' star Daniel Silva has just been sentenced in the criminal case involving the death of Youtuber Corey La Barrie, but Silva won't be spending much of his time behind bars.

According to a report by TMZ, Silva was sentenced to four years in state prison on August 25 but that sentence is suspended. He did, however, get 365 days in county jail with 216 days of credit. He's also getting five years of probation and 250 hours of community service. Daniel's attorney, Mike Cavalluzzi, told TMZ, "Daniel believes the sentence is fair, and in serving the probation there is a chance the charge can be reduced to a misdemeanor in the future. It's important to Daniel to work with Corey's family to make sure the memory of his friend is never forgotten."

As soon as the news of Silva's probation broke, angry netizens said that this incident is proof that money can buy anything, as one user said, "Coreys life was worth more than a year in jail. This just shows what money can get you. Love you, Corey. Miss you everyday bro." 

Another angry user said, "This is bulls**t. Silva deserves to rot in prison. Corey's life is WAY more important then a year. It’s sad if you have the money you can buy your way out of anything. Corey deserves better." Another one said, "In a second dui, it would be a murder charge. but just because daniel silva has money and a title he gets off easy? we need justice for corey. please share this petition as much as you can and don’t stop until we get proper justice for Corey la barrier."

Some demanded justice by saying, "Justice system shouldn’t be called a justice system cause people barely ever get the justice they deserve. f**k this system. court dates scare me. they scare me bc corey deserves f***ing justice but our justice system is so f***ed up and blank has a chance to get the easy way out." One said, "Corey deserves so much better than this. his friends & family deserve proper justice and suspending silva’s 4 year sentence to only a year with probation is hardly that."

And some said that the system failed Corey, "corey la barrie i’m sorry the system failed you! corey la barrie you deserve justice, you deserve better. i love and miss u so much." Some angry users commented saying, "are you STUPID? daniel silva NOT ONLY drove while intoxicated, but left corey and tried to flee the scene!!"  Another said, "That is so freaking stupid Corey lose his life because of this man and he only get a year of jail time he wasn’t just a Youtuber he was a friend, brother, best friend, son, cousin, and etc Daniel Silva should get aleast 15 year he killed a man."

The incident happened when Corey and Silva were leaving from Corey's 25th birthday party. Corey was sitting in the passenger's seat and Daniel, who was drunk at the time, was driving the car. Daniel who was driving the car and was Carey's friend was busted and charged with 2nd-degree murder after Corey died from injuries.

As stated by an LAPD news release, "A 2020 McLaren 600LT was traveling eastbound on Huston Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The driver then ran off the road and collided with a stop sign and a tree on the northeast corner of Huston Street and Carpenter Avenue. The driver of the McLaren exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by citizens who came to render aid. No other vehicles were involved in the collision."
