Iman Shumpert fans defend him after 'stretch marks' comment gets twisted: 'He's glorifying his wife's body'

Iman Shumpert has clarified his "stretch mark" comment for his wife Teyana Taylor after receiving a lot of backlash on the Internet. The American basketball player and his singer-songwriter wife, Teyana Taylor, welcomed their second baby girl, Rue Rose, on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at 3.28 am through natural delivery in their house minus the doctors. Iman had shared the good news on his official Instagram account and commenting on the same, he had said, “I searched Teyana body at least 3 times after Rue got here… not one stretch mark …sound the alarm lol. That dirty 30 gone be turnt!!!” The 30-year-old sportsperson then had to face the heat from the Internet after sharing this comment on social media.

Iman then again took to his official Instagram to clarify his comment. In one of his stories, he explained, “There was some confusion in my dms about the “stretch mark” comment. I didn’t say there was something wrong with them. Nor did I mean for that to be a one up. I was a 12lb 4oz baby that my mom had naturally. I m know what carrying a baby does to woman’s body…I just was stating it’s impressive that my wife still has none.” He concluded, “To those women that do have “beauty marks” from their child, I hope ur man kisses every one of them to thank you for the children you brought into this world. Love is love.”

The fans of Iman and Teyana also extended their support on Twitter and slammed the Internet for the backlash Iman was receiving. One social media user stated, “Y’all got mad at Iman Shumpert for saying his wife Teyana Taylor didn’t have stretch marks after giving birth?  Are y’all really that insecure?”

One user tweeted, “The fact that women are bothered by iman shumpert bragging bout his wife carrying a 12 LB baby with no stretch marks is weird !!! Y’all love being mad.”

One Twitterati shared, “Ughh, I’m So Tired of Celebrities Having To Clear Shit Up.. Wasn’t Anything Wrong With What @imanshumpert  Said! He’s Glorifying His Wife’s Body After Witnessing Her Have 2 Babies and No Stretch Marks. If Y’all Got Stretch Marks Then Hopefully Yall Man Loves Y’all Marks. Sh*t.”

Another user stated, “Ppl was really coming for Iman Shumpert bc he was impressed that Teyana didn’t have stretch marks after pregnancy Confused face. It’s like the definition of ppl find anything to be mad about. Y’all need to go outside and breathe.”

Sharing the same feeling, another fan posted, “Y’all are so sensitive now there’s an issue with what Iman Shumpert said about stretch marks? I really hate y’all, get me out of here.”

This was the second time when the couple opted for natural home delivery in a bathroom. Iman and Teyana, who are married from four years, also have a four-year-old daughter who was delivered the same way. Teyana had announced her second pregnancy via a music video. Iman and Teyana had both shared the good news with their fans on their respective official Instagram accounts.
