Illinois man breaks into wife's house, knocks her unconscious and kills toddler son before turning gun on himself
JOLIET, ILLINOIS: A 35-year-old father fatally shot his toddler son after breaking in and entering the child's mother's house and 'asking' his two children if they were ready to die.
Colton Miller, who was 18 months old, was shot “multiple times” by Christopher Miller on September 21, according to a statement from the Kendall County Coroner’s Office. After that, the boy's father turned the gun on himself and died from multiple self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
According to a Go Fund Me page set up to raise money for Colton's funeral, his father broke into his mother Cassandra Tanner-Miller's home.
“When she was putting away the groceries, she saw a figure move past her back door and realized it was [Christopher Miller],” reads the fundraiser. "He presumed to break into her house through the back door in which she pushed [the daughter] behind her. The monster came into her house with a smile on his face and said, ‘Are you all ready to die today? We’re all dying today!'”
Although Cassandra proceeded to put up a fight, her efforts were in vain.
“He beat Cassie over and over and over again. Cassie screamed for [the daughter] to go get Colton and get out of the house. She put up the most amazing fight, fighting him off for nearly 30 minutes. She did everything in her power to protect her babies but you cannot fight off a trained military killing machine who has the training, muscles, anger and the influence of drugs overbearing you," the page said.
In the struggle, the victim's mother sustained a broken jaw and a fractured knee. Christopher proceeded to strangle her until she lost consciousness. When she came around to her senses, she escaped from the house with her daughter.
“The monster moved onto his next victim and went on to shoot baby Colton two times,” the page said, adding that Christopher shot Colton seven times “and then turned the gun on himself like a coward.”
At the time of writing this article, the Go Fund Me campaign had raised over $23,000 of its $50,000 goal.
