Rep Ilhan Omar has said that that President Donald Trump’s 'incompetency' on handling the coronavirus pandemic could be clearly seen at his “cult rallies" after the president announced that he was no longer infectious and was ready to return to his campaign trail starting with a rally in Florida following his coronavirus diagnosis a little more than a week ago.

Omar made the remarks in an interview with MSNBC on Sunday, October 11. News anchor Jonathan Capehart said, “As a result of that rally in late September, September 30... we now know that 19 people have come down with the coronavirus since that rally. Are you satisfied with the information that’s coming out of the White House, particularly from the president’s doctor, about the president’s health?”

Omar said, “No. We still don’t have a clear answer to, you know, when he actually tested positive for the coronavirus. We don’t know if there were indications of him being possibly positive when he went to Minnesota and other states as he held his cult rallies. We at the moment don’t know if there has been a negative test for this president as he prepares to reassume his cult rallies that have now become super-spreaders. I mean, you know, that Saturday at the Rose Garden... that event wasn’t just outside, it was also indoors. It speaks to the level of incompetency, negligence, and, you know, just the danger that he has created as he’s damaged what it means to trust, you know, the information that is supposed to come from the White House.”

People were quick to slam her comments on Twitter, however. "Why is she not in jail for breaking the campaign laws and lie on her immigration? She needs to be removed and go to jail," one said, while another said, "When is this ISIS plant going to be PROSECUTED????" A third said, "Maybe this wise Somali scientist could offer some specific evidence other than the vile language coming from the LEFT side of its mouth?"

Time and again Trump and Omar have gone head to head both on social media and on other national platforms, condemning each other's actions. Only last month, Trump held a rally in Middletown, Pennsylvania, where he did not miss the chance to take a dig at Omar. Slamming the Democrat, the president said, “Ilhan Omar, that's a great one, she's a great one, always complaining, she's always complaining,” as he added: “Came here, things worked out for her, how did she come here? Does anybody know how she came here?"

This was the second jibe at Omar that Trump had taken after attacking her at a rally in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. On September 22, he commented, “She's telling us how to run our country! How did you do where you came from? How is your country doing?" However, when the footage of the 74-year-old’s comment emerged on Twitter, Omar did not hold back and hit back by saying: “Firstly, this is my country & I am a member of the House that impeached you. Secondly, I fled civil war when I was 8. An 8-year-old doesn’t run a country even though you run our country like one." She then posted a 'Mean Girls' meme, which read, “These cult-like rallies leave me wondering one thing: Why are you so obsessed with me?" Omar also got support from a number of people online who called Trump's remarks "racist".
