Idaho 'cult mom' Lori Vallow played the victim when cops questioned her about missing kids: 'I'm a good person'
REXBURG, IDAHO: "Cult mom" Lori Vallow had played the victim when she was questioned by the police about her two missing children last year. Vallow and her husband, Chad Daybell, have been making national headlines all through last year over the disappearance and death of her two children, seven-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.
It is now being reported that Vallow had played the victim when officers had showed up at the family's home to inquire about her children. Lori had officers, "I look like a suspect, but I’m a good person." She had reportedly said, "It's a lot of stuff. It’s very weird. I had to move around a lot. One of my brothers was trying to kill me. I feel like I’m being tracked all the time. I know people are looking for me. I just don’t want to be found."
Officers had visited Lori's home on November 26 last year when she had tried to prove her innocence. She had also said that one of her brothers had been trying to kill her, her former sister-in-law had wanted to take her son away and the family was always on the move to stay safe.
This encounter was one of two between Vallow and the cops which were recorded on at least one officer's body camera. The recording was played in court during a preliminary hearing for Vallow's husband Daybell. While the footage was not shown, the audio was heard, according to the NY Post.
The bodies of the two children had been found on Daybell's rural Idaho property seven months later. Daybell was accused of destroying evidence when burying the children while Vallow was charged with conspiracy.
Neither parent has been charged with the murder of their children and both have pleaded not guilty. The children had last been in September 2019 and were not reported missing by Vallow or Daybell. They only came to the attention of authorities two months later, when relatives called to report that they were concerned for the children's welfare. The two had tried to flee but Vallow was arrested in Hawaii in February and charged with two felony counts of desertion and non-support of dependent children, as well as resisting or obstructing officers, criminal solicitation to commit a crime and contempt of court.
Daybell was arrested on June 9. We had earlier reported that court records had shown that, while Joshua had been easy to identify, Tylee's body was so badly burned and decomposed, investigators had to call upon the expertise of an orthodontist. "It was not possible to identify the remains by simply looking at them as they were too damaged by fire and dismemberment and no longer had any recognizable features," a report read.
"However, Dr Glen Smith, an orthodontist and Deputy Coroner in the Ada County Coroner's Office was able to identify these remains as belonging to Tylee Ryan by matching an irregular jawline with an X-ray of Tylee when she was alive." Daybell and Vallow got married less than two months after Joshua and Tylee disappeared, and are also being investigated for conspiracy, attempted murder, and murder in the death of Daybell's first wife Tammy, who mysteriously died at their Salem home in October.
