WILMER, TEXAS: An Amber Alert has been issued in Wilmer for 10-year-old Ian Aguilar, and authorities suspect the boy was abducted by his father, 38-year-old Juan Aguilar-Cano, who is also accused of killing Ian's mother.

Ian, a 10-year-old residing in Wilmer, has become the center of a frantic search effort after being reported missing on Tuesday morning, November 14. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are clouded by suspicions involving his father, Juan, who is now the prime suspect not only in Ian's vanishing act but also in the tragic death of the boy's mother.

Ian is a student at the Eddie Berniece Johnson STEM Academy. Descriptions of Ian, including being about 4 feet tall with black hair and brown eyes, have been circulated, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information. Who is Juan Aguilar-Cano?

Juan, the 38-year-old father of Ian, is now at the center of a criminal investigation, accused not only of abducting his own son but also in the alleged murder of Ian's mother.

Descriptions provided by law enforcement paint Juan as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds, with brown eyes. The Tan 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe belonging to Juan with license plate No KVZ1194 was found abandoned.

His last known location was reportedly in Houston, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing search for both father and son. Juan faced a significant arrest in 2008 for evading arrest with a vehicle in Ennis. He entered a guilty plea and received a two-year probation as per The Sun.

Public outcry over police misidentification in Ian Aguilar case

Internet users criticized the police department for stating that Juan is of Caucasian ethnicity, while online users argued that he is Hispanic.

A user tweeted, "When I got that, it said Juan was a White guy. They need to give correct info." Another added, "How are y'all helping find the missing child by giving a FALSE discrimination of the suspect. He is Hispanic, not white."

A third tweeted, "I think all the 2007 Tahoe, Escalade and Suburban models came standard with OnStar. Therefore it should have GPS even if OnStar isn't active."

"So, the dad is white and the kid is Hispanic? Good way to get the data you want," read a tweet. "Juan's a white guy huh?" questioned a user.
