ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Controversial Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has set social media abuzz with the promotion of her upcoming memoir, 'MTG', scheduled for release next week.

However, it's not the book's content alone, but Greene's peculiar choice of setting – a burning fire pit – that raised eyebrows.

A rather blazing promotion

Standing defiantly in front of the flames, Greene addressed her audience, saying, "Hey guys, you can order my new book 'MTG' at mtgbook.com. Grab a copy for yourself and your friends and family... It is going to be a great read over the holidays."

The visual of Greene holding her memoir in front of a blazing fire left many wondering if she intended to symbolically throw the book into the flames. The internet erupted with a barrage of reactions, particularly from Greene's critics, questioning her motives.

"Burning her own book?" one posted on X.

"She’s teasing us with a good old-fashioned Republican book-burning," another wrote.

"Fire and MTG’s book go great together!" a comment read.

"That should be perfect burn material," someone else offered.

"That book of lies and propaganda makes great fire kindling," another added.

Controversial claims and allegations

Greene's memoir reportedly delves into contentious topics, including her account of the events on January 6, 2021. In the book, she claims that no Democrats remained in the House chamber to defend it against rioters.

Describing the chaos, Greene writes, "Not one Democrat was willing to stay to defend the chamber," as she portrays a scene of Republicans barricading doors and preparing for the onslaught. The fiery congresswoman further takes aim at Democrats, the media, and fellow Republican Lauren Boebert in her memoir.

Greene also rips into the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep Jerry Nadler, for being "physically unable to run" as the events of January 6, 2021, unfolded.

“I saw that it was a problem that so many of our representatives were older and physically unable to run,” she writes. “How do you get them to safety when they cannot move quickly because of age, physical ailments, or lack of physical fitness?"

“Oh, and many were hysterical, with the plastic bags over their heads in fear of teargas and the little electric fans running so they couldn’t hear, either. Just imagine Jerry Nadler trying to run for safety!” she quips.

Greene alleges that some Republicans on January 6 were armed and ready to defend themselves, despite guns being banned in the House chamber. She recounts her efforts to stay close to Clay Higgins, a former law enforcement officer and one of the "armed Republican members of Congress," according to The Guardian, which obtained a copy of the book.

Defense against antisemitism accusations

In her new book, Greene also reveals her purported contributions to the Temple Institute in Israel, a group dedicated to rebuilding the Jewish temple on the Temple Mount. The revelation is part of a chapter in which she defends her past suggestion of Jewish-funded "space lasers" causing wildfires in California.

Greene addresses accusations of antisemitism in her memoir. “There is not an antisemitic bone in my body,” she writes in her book. “My Savior is a Jewish carpenter who died on the cross for my sins, and I have no antisemitic sentiments whatsoever.”

However, she acknowledges being excluded from a trip to Israel by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee due to her antisemitic label, a move she deems a robbery of her "dignity, credibility, and chance to visit the Holy Land."

Despite the controversies surrounding her, Greene uses her book to emphasize her voting record on Israel's military aid, highlighting her support for the 'Iron Beam', a new laser missile defense system, which she dubs as "Israel's real" space laser. “So, it turns out I actually support Jewish space lasers,” she writes.

The memoir was published by Winning Team Publishing, according to The Forward.
