'I Love A Mama's Boy': Laila decides to join Shekeb and Emily on date, fans say 'Mama needs to get her own man'
Shekeb and Emily have been dating for three years, and the two seem to be madly in love. While they have been enjoying each other's company, there is one problem that their relationship faces, and it is Shekeb's mother, Laila. Shekeb's mother is from Afganistan, while Emily is from Korea. The two have been having a hard time being on the same page. Laila has been vocal about her dislike for Emily as she has always dreamt of his son marrying a Muslim woman. Since Emily and they have cultural differences, Laila does not think she would be the right fit for her son.
In a preview for the season premiere of the show, Shekeb and Emily sit down together to discuss their Vanteline's Day plans. While Emily seems to be excited, Shekeb wonders how he would make both the women in his life happy. Shekeb revealed that he used to go out with Emily in the morning and then took his mother out at night. However, this time, he wants to do things differently. Emily was clear that Valentine's Day "is for lovers and not for mothers" after Shekeb suggested it would be a nice way for her to spend time with his mom. Shekeb suggested they could go out for rock climbing and then dinner. Unfortunately, that idea was not appreciated by Emily. She kept insisting Shekeb that they spend Valentine's Day together as it is meant to be a special day for them. Meanwhile, Laila reminded Emily that she would always be the number one in Shekeb's life and nothing was going to change that.
"Valentine's Day is about the love between mother and son," Laila said. Emily added, "no, it is about us as a couple". Laila was quick to tell that she would always be there in the picture. Seeing how Laila was protective of Shekeb, fans thought Emily should look for another man. "Oh my dear lord NO! Mom step out on this date? Are you crazy ??? Holy get a life for yourself. This is NOT right, woman it isn't for you to say that your son and Valentine's Day are meant for the two of you? You love your son, let him be a man, and have his life. Let him go. You can’t hold him forever," read one comment.
Another added, "That mama needs to get her own man." "Run girl run! You are number one, not his mother. If a man can’t stand on his own without his mama making his decisions run fast for the door. Ain’t nothing gonna change take it from me! It will save you lots of wasted time!" read another comment.
