'I Am Jazz': Jazz's need for perfection leaves her feeling anxious as she prepares her valedictorian speech
Jazz Jennings loves to put her heart and soul into everything that she does and it seems her quest for perfection in all that she does is slowly affecting her anxiety levels. Jazz has always struggled with anxiety and her obsession with getting everything right and perfect has been making it worse.
To make things worse, the pressure of taking on new things has been making it hard for her to control her emotions. Jazz recently found out that she was chosen by the school to give the valedictorian speech and even though she was excited about it, she had an image in her head that she wanted to make a reality.
She knew that she wanted to be funny while also being relatable. She had drafted a speech and even though it was approved by the school, Jazz thought that it was not good enough. She wanted a pinch of Jazz in the speech which she thought was missing. Her dad, Greg Jennings assured her that her speech was good and she did not have to worry about it.
He tried to make the light of the situation by stating that the good part was that she was not going to be graded for it. Despite this, she did not seem pleased and knew that she had to get it right. This was not the first time when Jazz's perfectionist attitude interfered with her life.
Previously, Jazz experienced her anxiety taking over when she organized a drag show for charity. Even though she put on a great show for everyone, Jazz thought that she was not good enough. She thought of all the other ways she could have made her walk remarkable but since she did not get that, she felt upset and broke down.
Despite everyone assuring her that she did well, Jazz found it hard to accept it. There is no doubt that Jazz is having trouble getting hold of her emotions but the big question is, will she be able to understand her emotions better in the future?
'I am Jazz' airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
