Hunter Biden agrees to undergo paternity test to prove he's not father of Lunden Roberts's baby, says report
Hunter Biden, the 49-year-old embattled son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, is also fighting a battle on the personal front. Former college basketball player Lunden Roberts, 28, has alleged that Hunter is the father of her one-year-old baby. She also filed a petition asking the court to establish Hunter’s paternity and sought child support, health insurance and legal fees. Hunter though has been denied all allegations, at least in public, and called ror the suit to be trashed.
Now, Hunter has agreed to undergo a DNA test to prove that he is not the alleged father of Roberts’s baby, an exclusive report from the Daily Mail, which got hold of the court papers, said.
It has been reported that both parties are at the moment discussing the ‘protocol and procedure’ for administering the test on or before November 1. Hunter is set to face Roberts, who is from Arkansas, in court on December 2. Roberts, who lives in Independence County with her baby, reportedly gave birth in August last year and referred to her child as “Baby Doe”, refusing to identify its gender. She though has refused to comment on her relationship with Hunter, who is 20 years older than her.
Embattled Hunter comes under more scrutiny
Hunter’s decision to sit for the DNA test came at a time when his business dealings in Ukraine and China have come under intense scrutiny from President Donald Trump who has accused both him and his father Joe of corruption. Hunter was on the board of a Ukrainian energy company and it was his actions there that came into Trump’s focus. The Democrats subsequently launched a formal impeachment inquiry against the president after a whistleblower complaint accused him of trying to influence Ukraine to probe the Bidens.
The Democrats alleged that Trump did it to derail Joe Biden's electoral campaign, one of the Democratic frontrunners, ahead of next year’s election and hence misused his power. Even though Trump suffered backlash, the Bidens too have found themselves under pressure.
Hunter recently decided to quit the board of a Chinese private equity firm following the furore over his foreign dealings while Joe Biden announced that he would not allow any of his family members or associates to hold a position in a foreign company if he became president.
Roberts doesn't want to harm Joe Biden's campaign, said her attorney
According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Roberts’s attorney Clinton Lancaster said she wanted her privacy and doesn’t want the episode to be either a “media spectacle” or something disrupting Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. Roberts’s only concern is to get her baby financial support from its father, Lancaster said.
Hunter earlier claimed in court that he was not properly served with summons and copy of the lawsuit at his West Hollywood apartment where he lives with his wife of five months Melissa Cohen. He later dropped the claim.
Hunter recently appeared in his first interview after the Ukraine episode erupted, telling NBC News that it was a “poor judgment” over his foreign business dealings but defended himself saying he did nothing wrong.
