Hulu's 'The First,' starring Sean Penn, to premiere on September 14

'The First' will be a dramatized and fictionalized portrayal of humanity's attempts to explore Mars.

'The First,' Hulu's upcoming drama series about a team of astronauts which becomes the first humans to visit Mars has been scheduled for a September 14 premiere in the United States. The series will star Academy Award-winner Sean Penn alongside Natasha McElhone, known for her roles in 'Ronin' and 'The Truman Show.'

Also featuring in supporting roles are LisaGay Hamilton (The Practice, House of Cards), Oded Fehr (The Mummy franchise, Resident Evil franchise), James Ransone (The Wire, Generation Kill), and Hannah Ware (Boss, Betrayal). Anna Jacoby-Heron has also been cast in a co-starring/recurring role.
