How old is Lesley Stahl? ‘60 Minutes’ anchor slammed as 'old hag' after she calls out Nancy Pelosi on her age

It seemed like Stahl was rather concerned about the 'A-word' question, rather than listen to what Pelosi had to say about anything else

The nation is yet to recover from what unfolded at the US Capitol on the day when the Congressmen came together to certify president-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the latest election. Even though the police tried stopping the pro-Trump protesters from invading the Capitol building on January 6, they found their way in. Sharing her experience of one of the most horrific days in the history of America, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on CBS’ ‘60 Minutes’ interview with Lesley Stahl spoke at length about the need for the government to act immediately. However, it seemed like Stahl was rather concerned about the “A-word” question, drawing the ire of the people.

The interview started off with Stahl asking Pelosi about the 25th Amendment and if it was “off the table”. As the interview progressed, the speaker discussed the consequences one may endure until Trump steps down from power, before the anchor decided to throw in a question about the Democrat’s age.

Stahl asked Pelosi, “Can we talk about the A-word?”, to which a puzzled Pelosi responded, “What’s that?”. The anchor then says, “Age”, before stating that the speaker is 80 years old. She continues, “You're 80. Your number two, Steny Hoyer's 81. Your number three, Jim Clyburn, is 80. Why haven't you brought young people into the leadership?”. Pelosi put Stahl in her place by responding, “Because we have. You perhaps don't know.”

The CBS journalist added further, “Why does AOC complain that you have not been grooming younger people for leadership?”, to which Pelosi replied, “I don't know. You'll have to ask her-- because we are.”

The Democrat explained further, “I'm not dismissing her. I respect her. I think she's very effective as are other-- many other members in our caucus that the press doesn't pay attention to. But they are there and they are building support for what comes next.”

A significant number of social media users have expressed disappointment in the 79-year-old Stahl for asking a question related to Pelosi’s’ age and targeting her for the same. One Twitter user wrote, “When she asked Nancy Pelosi about the "A" question . . . age, Lesley Stahl was 79 years old.  Does she mentor young news reporters? Will she retire so someone younger can have her job?” And another added, "@60Minutes So, Lesley Stahl just called out Nancy Pelosi on her age (80) accusing her of not bringing younger people into the fold. Disappointing when you consider that Lesley is (79). If she feels that strongly perhaps she should have let Norah O'Donnell (47) do the interview." One Twitter user asked, "Lesley stahl's approach in this ep of 60 mins was so...horrible. what the f**k does nancy pelosi's age have to do with whatever's going on in the US right now? and the fact that she kept cutting pelosi off every 2 mins was so frustrating..." One wrote, "Wtf was old Lesley stahl asking speaker Pelosi about her age. Wtf old hag stahl"
