Family devastated as mom and unborn baby tragically die after 'unexpected' medical emergency
QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA: A woman's uterus tragically ruptured, killing the mother and her unborn child and leaving her husband and four children in shock. When Lauren Thompson was brought to the hospital due to intense labor pains, she was approximately 37 weeks along with her baby girl, Hannah.
The 39-year-old's uterus ruptured, resulting in an obstetric disaster. After battling for her life for a week, Thompson's baby didn't endure the ordeal before she, too, died on Saturday. To help her husband Ben and their four children, who are aged two, four, seven, and nine, a GoFundMe page has been created.

'She was truly one of a kind'
The GoFundMe page states, "Anyone who met Lauren instantly felt the warmth, kindness and love that she radiated. She was truly one of a kind. She was the most beautiful and nurturing mum to her 4 young boys ages 9, 7, 4, and 2. And a gorgeous wife to Ben. Lauren was 36 weeks pregnant with their 5th child and first baby girl, when her uterus unexpectedly ruptured which led to the loss of their baby girl Hannah. Tragically Lauren passed a week later. The news has hit everyone who knew her like a sledge hammer."
The page further adds, "Lauren was the most incredible mum, she devoted her life to her boys, she homeschooled them with so much patience and passion. Anyone who has met them could feel the love and respect between them all. She will be so deeply missed by everyone, especially her family. The loss of such a kind human and amazing mum will be felt forever."
The page in last mentions, "We have set up this gofundme to help her grieving family with funeral costs plus help support her boys future. It's a long road ahead for them as they try navigate a life without their beloved mumma. Every little bit helps and will be so greatly appreciated. Please spread the word and give what you can." The page has already gained $21,692 in four days.
'I can't believe she's gone'
According to her husband, Ben, the incident came as a complete shock, who told that her uterus had grown into the scar from her last C-section but had been missed by all tests. He exclaimed, "I can't believe she's gone." He went on and added, "We have four boys aged from two to nine... The little ones have no understanding where their mum has gone," as reported by Daily Mail.
The coroner will determine the cause of death, although it is believed that the placenta expanded too deeply into the uterine wall and ruptured the uterus. Medical personnel first believed Ben's wife might survive the trauma, but that was not the case. Together, Lauren and Hannah will be cremated, and money raised through the GoFundMe page will help with funeral expenses as well as the children's continued care, as per reports.
