COLUMBUS, OHIO: A baby boy who was allegedly kidnapped and recently returned to his mother died on Saturday, January 28. Last month, investigators claimed a woman stole a car with Ky'Air Thomas and his twin brother Kason still inside. As per reports, the brothers were later found unharmed and were handed to their mother in Ohio by the Columbus police.

On Saturday, Columbus police rushed to a house when a newborn was reported to be not breathing. The 6-month-old Ky'air was pronounced dead when he arrived at Nationwide Children's Hospital, according to the police. There is no information about the cause of death, reports NBC news. The incident is being actively investigated by the Columbus Division of Police.

Ky'Air and Kason Thomas, twin boys, made headlines after they were kidnapped from a Columbus Donato's on Monday, December 19. As per police, the suspect, Nalah Jackson, was inside the restaurant when the boy's mother stepped in. Jackson quickly left the eatery then got into the mother's car and drove away with the twins still inside, reports News5 Cleveland. Hours later, Ky'Air was discovered unharmed at the Dayton airport; nevertheless, it took days for Kason to return to his family. When Kason returned home, his family rejoiced at the safe arrival of both infants. Jackson, who entered a guilty plea to a separate case earlier this month, is currently being prosecuted on two federal kidnapping counts in relation to the abduction of Ky'Air and Kason.

'Boys' mother was feeding them'

Meanwhile, Ky'Air Thomas' family is inconsolable after learning that the infant died suddenly, according to authorities and loved ones, reported ABC 6. Although the cause of Ky'Air's death was not officially disclosed by the authorities, a family member reportedly claimed that an accident occurred while the boys' mother was feeding them. "I am like in a state of shock for real. I literally, I really am. I am devastated I'm hurt," Wilma Booker, the aunt of the twins' mother stated.

'It was just like an accident'

According to Booker, the family is heartbroken and is still coming to grips with Ky'Air's passing. The mother Wilhelmina Barnett has been shaken by everything, the family told ABC 6. "She's doing really bad right now," Booker stated. "While I wasn't exactly right there when it happened, my kids were there. Momo (the twins' mother's nickname) was feeding the babies, and one of them started choking on the milk and that's what happened. She immediately called 911, trying to do chest compression and CPR things to get the baby back at that time. It was just like an accident that happened from feeding the babies and that was it." Police had rushed to the residence for a medical emergency. Despite their best efforts, paramedics and doctors were unable to save the patient.

'Really good mom'

After everything the family has been through, loved ones find it hard to believe something like this could happen. "I just want people to know that Momo is a really good mom," Booker stated. "She loves her babies. I don't want people to judge her like they did last time. I just want that to be known."

Booker further said, "I'm hurt for Momo. I'm hurt for Chaz the father, I'm hurt for Kason his twin brother because he is a twin, but I’m mostly, mostly, mostly, mostly, worried about Wilhelmina. She's been through so much in the way of social media and everybody has been treating her. I just don't want her to take a toll on her and want her to keep being the great mom that she is."

The incident is still being investigated, according to the police.
