CINCINNATI, OHIO: Ex-NBA player Brandon Hunter was announced dead at the age of 42. It has not yet been reported or confirmed how Brandon died.

The basketball community was left in shock after the former player died at a young age.

The death news was confirmed on Tuesday, September 12, by Jeff Boals, Ohio's men's basketball coach, and was also announced on social media by TMZ.

Jeff wrote on Twitter, "Sad day for Bobcat Nation. Brandon Hunter, Gone way too soon. One of the best to ever put on the green and white. #RIP." The internet was left in shock after the news circled all around.



 

A shocked fan wrote, "Oh my gosh. This is terrible. Brandon was a great player and better teammate. This is a tough one."

Another fan commented, "OHIO Legend. Consummate "gamer!" RIP. Prayers to friends and family."

Who did former NBA player Brandon Hunter play for?

Brandon was a former player for the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. He was selected by the Boston Celtics in the 2003 NBA draft.

Brandon played in the Reebok Pro Summer League with the Celtics, leading them with 8.2 rebounds per game.

Brandon played his first NBA game on January 9, 2004, wearing the number 56. 

Later, he was traded to the Orlando Magic for Keith Bogan in November 2004. In Orlando, he averaged 3.1 points.

Brandon was Cincinnati's local star from his high school days.

He rose to fame as he was forwarded for Cincinnati Bobcats, earning 3 All-MAC conference first-team selections and NCAA in his senior year.

Former NBA player Brandon was 6 foot 7 inches. His weighed 266 lb.

Born on November 24, 1980, Brandon was raised in his hometown Cincinnati. He attended Withrow High School.

Hunter was also the coach in the Cincinnati area with CoachUp, a private coaching service.

Besides being a professional basketball player, Brandon was also a real estate broker, who worked as an NBPA and FIBA-certified sports agent.

Why did Brandon Hunter's NBA career end?

Brandon played his final game in the NBA on April 20, 2005. He lost to the Miami Heat 93-98. 

Back then he was signed by Milwaukee Bucks as a free agent. However, Brandon was waived from the team a month later and moved overseas.

He was then signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing in the NBA Summer League. In 2007, he returned to the US and played Summer League for the New Jersey Nets.
