LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 started streaming on HBO Max on June 16, 2024, and the first episode of this epic-fantasy adventure series brought a pleasant surprise for the viewers as Winterfell and Wall made a glorious return in the 'Game of Thrones' prequel.

Fans of 'Game of Thrones' would remember the Wall as a huge structure that was guarded by the Night's Watch to keep out the White Walkers in the series. We ultimately saw the Wall fall at the hands of the White Walkers and the Night King.

The prequel series is set two hundred years before the events of 'Game of Thrones' and we see Prince Jacaerys 'Jace' Velaryon (Harry Collett) and Lord Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor) go to the wall. Lord Cregan Stark educates Jace about the history of the wall and the time Jace's ancestors Queen Alysanne and King Jaehaerys Targaryen failed to fly their dragon over the wall.

Here's everything about Queen Alysanne and her dragon.

Who was Queen Alysanne and which dragon did she ride?

Queen Alysanne was the sister-wife of King Jaehaerys Targaryen who ruled the seven kingdoms for 55 years before being succeeded by Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine). His rule is considered to be the most peaceful reign in the history of the seven kingdoms. Queen Alysanne rode the dragon Silverwing.

According to George R R Martin's literature, the Queen tried to fly her dragon three times beyond the wall and her dragon refused to fly beyond the wall. Lord Stark in the first episode claims that the 700 ft wall was built to keep out the dead, not snow or Wildlings.

The event of Silverwing not flying beyond the wall is an event that troubled the Queen for a long time. The Wall as we have learned over the years has been constructed with magical powers to keep death away from it.

Fans wonder how Daenerys' dragon crossed the wall

The revelation confused the viewers because they had seen Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) cross the wall with her dragon and were curious why Daenerys' dragon could cross the wall but Silverwing could not.

A Reddit user commented "And yet Dany's dragons all crossed the wall no problem... Interesting."  Another Reddit user wondered if it was because of the Khaleesi's control over her dragons "What does this say about Dany's dragons and her control over them I wonder."

Some users blamed it on bad writing and inconsistencies with the book and its adaptation in 'Game of Thrones'. A Reddit user said. "It's just bad writing" Another Reddit user added "The wall was also built with magic spells that kept magical creatures from crossing it. At the beginning of the show they were taking that route, you can see an example of that when Benjen Stark was unable to cross the wall, but D&D "forgot" about this story line." blaming the creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for it."
