LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 2 aired on HBO on June 23, 2024, and the enthralling episode has got everyone talking all around the world. Fans had been waiting for the second season for about two years and they have not been disappointed by its exciting storytelling and mind-blowing storylines

Among the major talking points, was the repulsive nature of Criston Cole's (Fabian Frankel) character. The character has been hated by fans all over the world for his relationship with Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and for failing to protect Prince Jaehaerys. In Episode 2, he treats Ser Arryk Cargyll (Luke Tittensor) with disdain for what was his error. This has irked fans even more.

He wasn't the most-liked character in Season 1 either after what he did to Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr) exposing the parentage of Rhaenyra's children. Fans have found him to be insufferable in the last few episodes.

Fans who are invested in the series have been personally affected by Criston Cole and his histrionics. A Reddit user said, "Raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by Ser Cole," and many answered the call by turning up to give Cole a piece of their mind.

A Reddit user added, "He’s such an insanely delusional gaslighting projecting psychopath like I wanna throw hands every time he opens his hypocritical mouth. I NEEEEED to see him get absolutely wrecked." Another Reddit user said, "Larys Strong killed his own house and Criston Cole is still the series’ greatest villain."

Another Reddit user said, "He 100% wanted to murder Arryk and was baiting him. Dude feels like a serial killer." Another Reddit user said, "What I can't stand is how he keeps getting... promoted? Helluva job you did there as Lord Commander! The heir died on your watch while you were playing sexy starfish to the queen dowager AND you singlehandedly sent one of your best knights to his imminent death."

Some fans were appreciative though of the performance that made Criston Cole so unlikeable. A Reddit user said, "I haven’t disliked a character this much in a long time. Amazing acting for me to despise a fictional person so much wow." Another Reddit user said, "Didnt think there was someone more that could be hated more than Joffrey Baratheon, but here we are Ser Criston Cole is worse than that psycho joff," referring to Joffery Baratheon.
