Don't you just love it when misogyny is played for laughs in the most drawn-out set-up ever? *Cries till the eyes bleed*.

So, on Episode 5 of 'House of Payne', Ella (Cassi Davis) tries to talk to Jazmine (China McClain) about what's troubling her. We got a hint that Jazzy is rather upset about being pressured into sex, and we would have gotten to the conversation a lot quicker had Curtis (LaVan Davis) not kept interrupting. In the most unnerving episode of sitcoms, Curtis intervenes several times, just to ask Ella for dinner. She keeps telling him to go and he keeps returning with more whining, and a random song too. Of course, this is played for laughs, but your nerves get so frayed by the end of the episode. There are several questions that keep running in your mind. For starters, why is Curtis such a pain? When will they get to the point about Jazmine?

Before Ella finally explains to Jazzy that "she needs to give it time", she gives a whole sermon on how she's old-fashioned and that she believes that men are the head of the household. Just... no. She says this because Jazzy tells her that women don't respond well to men treating them this way. But god forbid we ever have a progressive message for women. Ella gently explains that she cooks for Curtis because she loves doing it and that he takes care of her, so yay for all, it works both ways. Basically, in the sweetest way possible, she enables all of Curtis's tantrums because that's just what this day and age needed, didn't it? But to prove that she doesn't stand his nonsense, she puts her foot down when he comes back and whines about not getting food.

In all that time he spent asking for food, he knows that he could have just made a sandwich for himself right? But hey, why not justify a man-child when you can? Sigh. This was the mainstay of the episode and it dragged on so painfully that you would rather watch grass die.
