'Weird as s**t': Hot mic catches reporter's shocked reaction post Donald Trump's press briefing to tout Dow record
President Donald Trump had addressed journalists at the White House on Tuesday, November 24, after the Dow had topped up 30,000 points for the first time, The Sun reports. He was seen standing next to Vice President Mike Pence and called the news a "sacred number" before he left the briefing room. Several members of the press had shouted questions at Trump as he had not taken questions from reporters in 21 days but had not responded.
Hearing Trump take the credit for the rise in the market, a stunned reporter blurted out that the press briefing " Well, that was weird as s**t" and that was caught on the hot mic. In the briefing room, Trump was heard telling reporters, "I just want to congratulate everybody. The stock market Dow Jones Industrial Average just hit 30,000, which is the highest in history."
"We’ve never broken 30,000, and that’s despite everything that’s taken place with the pandemic. The stock market’s just broken 30,000 – never been broken, that number. That’s a sacred number, 30,000, and nobody thought they’d ever see it." As soon as Trump had made his speech, he exited the briefing room as fast as he had entered it.
The Dow's jump comes as investigators were encouraged by the latest progress on coronavirus vaccines and President-elect Joe Biden's slow transition to the White House. Traders had also been encouraged by the news that Biden had reportedly selected Janet Yellen who is the former Federal Reserve chair to serve as Treasury secretary.
Back in February, Trump had said that if he did not win the re-election, "You’re going to see a crash like you’ve never seen before." He added that if Biden was elected, 401ks were "down the tubes" and would "disintegrate and disappear." Many social media users commented on how Trump's speeches were not relevant anymore. One such user shared, "I dare all the reporters to take off their shoes and throw them at him and boo him off his podium. He has nothing relevant to say anymore. Never did." Another added, "Was the reporter referring to the 1-minute #DonaldTrump briefing or the entire #presidency? I think it applies to the entire 4 years. #TrumpConcede #TrumpCollapse #TrumpAgainstAmerica."
"I can't wait for this f***** to go to prison New York is waiting patiently for you Rikers Island should be reserved only for Donald Trump," shared yet another user.

Author Stephen King tweeted asking: "The stock market (Dow) hit 30,000. The COVID-19 death count in America hit 260,000. Guess which one Trump takes credit for?" Yet another user chimed in, "It started out that way too. During Trump's inauguration speech, Bush himself was heard saying "That was some weird shit."
"The epitaph to the Trump administration, “well, that was weird as sh^t!" shared another user who echoed the same sentiments.

On Monday, November 23, Trump's General Services Administration Emily Murphy acknowledged that Biden had won the 2020 presidential elections around two weeks after the election day. This means that the president-elect will now be able to take part in the daily security briefing and will be able to communicate with the country's Covid-19 task force.
