After months of denying it, South Korean boy band H.O.T.'s Kangta (real name Ahn Chil-hyun) and actress Jeong Yu-mi have finally confirmed that they are in a relationship.

The two were rumored to be a couple last year but they denied it, with their agencies releasing statements saying that they were 'just friends'.

Kangta is an industry veteran who has been active even before he made a debut with H.O.T. in 1996. Last year, he was embroiled in an ugly controversy when racing model Woo Joo Ahn posted old videos of them together and TV personality Oh Jung Yeon claimed that Kangta had cheated on her with Ahn while they were still dating.

Kangta and Ahn both posted apologies on their respective Instagram accounts and announced that they were no longer together. Ahn also called out Yeon for her claims, stating that the latter was lying and had previously caused her significant trauma by barging in on her while she was with Kangta.

Rumors that Kangta and Jeong Yu-mi were dating surfaced at the same time and both their agencies immediately shut them down by saying the two were only friends. It is understandable that both the couple and their agencies wanted to keep their relationship quiet while the controversy blew over.

Following the events, Kangta took a step back from the limelight and released a formal apology announcing that he would be canceling the release of his new song. He was also set to appear in the 2019 SMTOWN Live in Tokyo but pulled out citing health reasons.

It seems that's all behind him now! After taking time away, it looks like the H.O.T. vocalist has found himself in a happier place dating actress Jeong Yu-mi of 'A Thousand Days' Promise' fame. Jung was last seen in 2018's 'Partners for Justice 2' as rookie prosecutor Eun Sol.
