'Homeland' Season 8 Episode 7 Preview: Carrie attempts a daring rescue mission, Haqqani surrenders

If anything, the upcoming episode hints at being more action-packed. We can definitely expect fireworks between Carrie and Saul once the latter figures out that she's not on the plane to Germany.  It's also interesting to see the ramifications Haqqani's arrest will have on the US and G'ulom

In its final season, 'Homeland' has established it's not pulling any punches. The season reached the halfway mark last week and ended with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) directly disobeying Saul Berenson's (Mandy Patinkin) orders to go back to Germany. "You will become the focus of an investigation that will define the rest of your life,” says Saul, but in the end, it's just Carrie carrying on as the whole lone gun-slinger.

For Carrie, it was about finding Max Piotrowski (Maury Sterling) who was taken hostage by one of the Taliban soldiers at the chopper crash site that saw the death of the Afghanistan and US President. It is safe to say that Two Minutes' had three separate storylines, all happening at the same time.

While Carrie takes it on herself to rescue Max, her mentor, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), and the CIA station attempt to convince the newly sworn US President, Benjamin Hayes (Sam Trammell), to talk to power-hungry General Abdul Qadir G'ulom. It is revealed that after blaming Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar) for the attack on the Presidents, G'ulom has rounded up 300 Taliban soldiers and kept them hostage in a soccer stadium.

The promo clip of the upcoming episode, 'F****r shot me' provides more than just a glimpse of what happens. You can watch the clip here:

The clip sees Carrie contact Mike Dunne (Cliff Chamberlain) at the CIA Kabul station saying she's found Max while Saul can be heard saying, "Give them a fair trial" while we see Numan Acar's Haissam Haqqani being cuffed and whisked away by G'ulom's men. Meanwhile, things also don't seem well between Carrie and Yevgeny (Costa Ronin). The clip ends with Carrie trying to break Max out of what appears to be a Taliban hideout.

If anything, the upcoming episode hints at being more action-packed. We can definitely expect fireworks between Carrie and Saul once the latter figures out that she's not on the plane to Germany.  It's also interesting to see the ramifications Haqqani's arrest will have on the US and G'ulom.

What are your thoughts on Carrie breaking all set rules to rescue Max?

'Homeland' airs Sundays 9 pm ET/PT on Showtime.
