Ellen Barkin compares Trump to Stalin, says he's responsible for more 'deaths than Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon'
Actress Ellen Barkin has joined a number of Hollywood celebrities in railing against President Donald J Trump, accusing him of causing Americans to die. According to her, the 45th POTUS is “responsible for more deaths than Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.”
The 66-year-old appeared to be referencing the thousands of Americans who died after succumbing to the coronavirus pandemic. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the 'Animal Kingdom' star also compared the president to Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, Breitbart reports.
“Trump is responsible for more deaths than Kennedy Johnson and Nixon,” she wrote. “He will go down in history as the Stalin of incompetence and greed.”
The 'Ocean's Thirteen' star was probably referring to the Vietnam War by invoking Presidents John F Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon. According to the US Department of Veteran Affairs, more than 47,000 American service members were killed in action during the Vietnam War.
Barkin has previously described Trump supporters as "dumb" and the “most extreme right-wingers since the Nazis.” Having said that, Barkin is only the latest Hollywood star to accuse the president of killing American citizens. Earlier this month, songstress Barbra Streisand blamed the president for 20,000 US deaths from coronavirus, claiming that he was "unfit" to lead the country at the time of a public health crisis.
The 'Woman In Love' hitmaker also called the commander-in-chief an incompetent and a liar in a tweet on Sunday, April 12. "I wrote a song called 'Don’t Lie to Me' after Trump was elected, because he was a serial liar. Now, with more than 20,000 people dead because of his incompetence and lies, he's proven that he can’t handle the truth. He’s unfit to lead this nation...especially in a time of crisis" she tweeted.
Cher, another Trump-hating songstress, denounced "people around" the president accusing them of turning their heads the other way while he "kills Americans" for financial gain, she wrote in a tweet on Friday, April 17. The singer was referring to Trump's plans of opening the American economy at a time when thousands in the country have died of the deadly novel coronavirus.
"I always knew Trump’s stupidity and cruelty could put American lives in danger, but I didn’t think all the people around him would be accessories," the singer tweeted. "Senators, heads of his agencies, American businesses, mega-donors, all who have their hands in the till. These people turn their heads while Trump kills Americans."
Meanwhile, director Rob Reiner said that the health crisis paved the way for Trump's defeat in the upcoming election in November as most of the people in the country will choose to vote against a leader who does not understand the value of his citizens' lives. “Trump will lose in a landslide because Americans will literally be voting for their lives,” Reiner tweeted on Sunday, April 18.
In a few other tweets, he posted, "As we stay at home and learn of our fellow citizens dying, every medical expert tells US the same thing. To begin returning to normalcy we need massive testing. That the richest country on the planet is incapable of providing those tests means only one thing: We have no leader. It’s very simple. Donald Trump’s mental illness is causing US citizens to die."
