'Relive my childhood again': Excited fans can't keep calm as 'Hocus Pocus 2' returns after 29 years

Helmed by Anne Fletcher, 'Hocus Pocus 2' sees Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones reprising their roles from the 1993 cult classic

After a big hit fans always expect a sequel. The sequel to the famous spooky Halloween flick 'Hocus Pocus' is out after 29 years. Yes, you heard that right! The franchise is back with a sequel titled 'Hocus Pocus 2' which is being helmed by Anne Fletcher, written by Jen D'Angelo, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. You thought that is it? There is more. Unlike Sarah Jessica Parker's 'Sex and the City' reboot '...And Just Like That' which didn't have Kim Catrall reprising her role as Samantha Jones, 'Hocus Pocus 2' has the original cast members playing the Sanderson Sisters in the sequel.

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones will be seen reprising their roles from the original movie, while Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, and Sam Richardson joined the cast in new roles. Exciting isn't it? After the news was announced, fans couldn't keep their calm. It is not any regular day that a fan witnesses a sequel returning on their phone or laptop screen after almost three decades.

The plot revolves around three new young women who accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem. Now, they must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world. As the movie premieres, fans claim that they are losing their sleep over it as they get to "relive their childhood". 

A fan wrote, "I set my alarms early tomorrow so I can wake up to watch Hocus pocus 2 #HocusPocus2." A fan tweeted, "Omg #HocusPocus2 is release at 5pm (AEST time zone) today. I am so excited to watch Hocus Pocus & relive my childhood again."

Another fan shared, "So, excited to watch #HocusPocus2 ... maybe watch #disneyplus crash, but eventually to watch #HocusPocus2. Lol." One said, "I don’t work tomorrow so I feel like I’mma just stay up til #HocusPocus2 drops and have some midnight margaritas and Halloween candy."

One fan questioned, "Does #HocusPocus2 drop at midnight? I have internship tomorrow, but I can function on a few hours of sleep, right?" One tweeted, "Who else is staying up for #HocusPocus2 ???"

However, one can't blame the fans as the Salem witch sisters are back for a straight-to-streamer reunion this week with the release of 'Hocus Pocus 2', the highly anticipated sequel to the 1993 cult classic.

 'Hocus Pocus 2' arrives on Disney+ on Friday, September 30, 2022, bringing along the Halloween feels and childhood nostalgia for many fans.
