Former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton, on Thursday, predicted that President Donald Trump would not be elected to a second term in the 2020 presidential elections.

Clinton, during an interview with CBS News, also talked about the 2016 presidential elections, and blamed her loss on "many funny things" that happened during that election year. "Look, there were many funny things that happened in my election that will not happen again," Clinton said in a short clip of an interview which is set to air on 'CBS Sunday Morning' this weekend.

The 2016 Democratic contender, who won the popular vote in the 2016 polls but lost the electoral college vote, argued that voters now understand Trump's tactics better: "And I'm hoping that both the public and press understand the way Trump plays the game."

Clinton also said that, contrary to some people's opinions, she does not believe she has made it harder for a woman to be elected president. "Well, I hope not, and I don't think so—because the objective is to field whoever is the strongest candidate to defeat Donald Trump," she said. "Because Donald Trump right now poses a direct threat, a clear and present danger to the institutions of our government, to the rule of law, to our standing in the world."

Clinton and her daughter Chelsea sat down for a wide-ranging interview with CBS' Jane Pauley to talk about their new book titled 'The Book of Gutsy Women.'

The interview was conducted before House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opened a formal impeachment inquiry against Trump on Tuesday in the wake of the Ukraine call scandal.

Clinton, however, suggested that there should be an inquiry, saying: "My view is that, given the latest revelation, which is such a blatant effort to use his presidential position to advance his personal and political interests, there should be an impeachment inquiry opened. And I think, sadly, there are a number of grounds. But this one is incredibly troubling."

Trump, during a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian President, asked a "favor," prodding the foreign leader to investigate his political rival former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic frontrunner of the 2020 polls.
