Hillary Clinton has reportedly ventured into the world of writing fiction and is making her debut with a novel. The former secretary of state has reportedly taken a not-so-concealed dig at former president Donald Trump by mentioning a US government facing terror in her upcoming book. The novel named ‘State of Terror’ will tell the story of an apprentice secretary of state working in a "dangerously out of control administration" of a rival politician, The Sun reported. The book will also mention the character of a President, who was “inaugurated after four years of American leadership that shrank from the world stage".

Hillary was the secretary of state when Barack Obama was the President of the US between 2009 to 2013. In 2016, when Trump was running for the White House, the 73-year-old was his competitor. During the campaign, the Republican reportedly used a lot of derogatory comments for her, including “crooked Hillary”.

For the novel, which is scheduled to be released in October, the mother-of-one has teamed up with Canadian thriller novelist and long-time friend Louise Penny. In a statement, Hillary said, “Writing a thriller with Louise is a dream come true. I've relished every one of her books and their characters as well as her friendship. Now we're joining our experiences to explore the complex world of high stakes diplomacy and treachery. All is not as it first appears."

Penny also spoke about her experience working with Hillary as she explained it was “an incredible experience, to get inside the State Department. Inside the White House. Inside the mind of the Secretary of State as high stake crises explode. Before we started, we talked about her time as Secretary of State. What was her worst nightmare? STATE OF TERROR is the answer.”

The Clintons are not new to writing fiction. Earlier, Hillary’s husband and former president Bill Clinton had also written a political novel, ‘The President's Daughter’, which he completed with bestselling thriller writer James Patterson. The duo was also behind a 2018 book - ‘The President is Missing’ - which was about a terrorist cyberattack on the White House. The book went on to become a huge hit and is also being adapted for television.

Several people took to Twitter to express their thoughts on Hillary's book. One user said, “Why would she be working in the administration of a Rival Politician. Wouldn't it be more realistic for her to be working over a CIA Director who is guarding a hidden agenda.” The second person tweeted, “My wife reads 4 to 5 books per month and has twelve Louise Penny Three Pines novels in her Kindle library. She just read about this collaboration and is not happy. She says, ‘no more!’” Another one commented, “Maybe the Secretary of State will sleep throughout the night as an ambassador is killed? Oh, wait that happened in real life!”

“How appropriate is that name. Everyone who has ever worked around the Clintons are all ways in that state,” a person stated while another one added, “This person was recorded on tape mocking and laughing at torture victims. The media would ostracize & definitely not give free publicity to most who acted this way. Guess it's ok as long as your political left.”
