Hillary Clinton shades Trump and Melania by comparing them to 'corrupt' King Ahab and 'vain' Queen Jezebel at Elijah Cummings' funeral
Hillary Clinton seemed to throw some shade at POTUS Donald Trump while giving a speech at Elijah Cummings' funeral in Baltimore on Friday, October 25.
Clinton made a biblical dig at Trump in a comment about Cummings standing up to the "corrupt leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel".
The former secretary of state further said that it was no coincidence that Cummings "shared a name with an Old Testament prophet whose name meant in Hebrew, 'the Lord is my God'."
She continued, "And who used the power and the wisdom that God gave him to uphold the moral law that all people are subject to and because all people are equal."
Ahab was an evil king in Israel and Jezebel was his wife. She was a Phoenician princess who dressed in the best clothing and jewelry.
She worshipped the false god Baal and eventually met her doom. According to the Old Testament, Elijah restored the Kingdom of Israel back to the true path of God.
Clinton shared, "Our Elijah could call down fire from heaven. But he also prayed and worked for healing," according to a report.
"Like that Old Testament prophet, he stood against the corrupt leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. He weathered storms and earthquakes, but he never lost his faith," Clinton shared. "And he looked out for the vulnerable among us. And he kept reminding us, life is no dress rehearsal".
Her speech drew a lot of applause in the church. She then made another comment about living without the "fear" of our leaders.
Two former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton were present at the funeral. Elijah Cummings' widow also acknowledged that Trump's attack on Baltimore had "hurt" Cummings.
She shared that Cummings had been fighting the "very real corruption" in the country and was working hard to save the "soul of our democracy".
