Hillary Clinton says Bernie Sanders didn't do enough to unite Democrats after she won nomination in 2016

Earlier in January, Clinton was reported as saying that "nobody likes" Sanders. "Nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done."

Hillary Clinton recently spoke on Emily Tisch Sussman's podcast 'Your Primary Playlist' where she revealed that presidential candidate Bernie Sanders did not do enough to unite the Democrats in 2016. This was when Clinton had become the party's presidential nominee after their primary battles.

She said, "Unfortunately his campaign and his principal supporters were just very difficult and -- really, constantly -- not just attacking me but my supporters." She also recalled that in 2016, the behavior of Sanders' supporters at the Democratic National Convention was "very distressing". She specifically addressed the incident of how speakers -- representative John Lewis and the former First Lady Michelle Obama -- were booed.

Clinton added, "All the way up until the end, a lot of people highly identified with his campaign were urging people to vote third party, urging people not to vote." She also said this was not the case in 2008 when Clinton had lost the primary battle to then-Senator Barack Obama. She stated that she had gone on to work on 100 events for the eventual president.

She also said that she felt the current Democratic Party is 'light years' better than the Republican Party. She added, "But just look at the price we paid for a Trump presidency." Clinton also said that she cannot imagine how any "caring, smart, concerned American" who can identify on the party's left would want four more years of "destructive" current POTUS.

"That cannot happen again. I don’t care who the nominee is. I don’t care. As long as it’s somebody who can win, and as long as it’s somebody who understands politics is the art of addition, not subtraction," Clinton added.

Earlier in January, Clinton was reported as saying that "nobody likes" Sanders. Adding, "Nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done." This comment of hers received heavy backlash after which Clinton confirmed that she would support Sanders if he did turn out to become the Democratic nominee.
