Hillary Clinton has defended Joe Biden after the latter was embroiled in a controversy over his "touchy-feely" interactions with women.

The former Democratic nominee said his critics need to "get over it". Earlier this week, she spoke about the frontrunner to succeed her as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.

According to Inquisitr, she said too many people are relishing an opportunity to tear down a person. She pushed back against the interactions and said it was an attempt to cut down the candidate who has the best chance of defeating Donald Trump in 2020.

She added that the accusations against Biden pale when compared to the dangers Trump posed.  In an interview with People, she said: "We can pick apart anybody. I mean, that’s a great spectator sport."

"But this man who’s there in the Oval Office right now poses a clear and present danger to the future of the United States. So get over it. Look at the candidates, look at what they've accomplished, look at what they have fought for — and vote for anybody to get rid of Donald Trump," she said.

Earlier this year, several women had stepped forward to say that Biden had given unwanted touches and kisses on the head that was uncomfortable. This behavior led to people to describe him as "too touchy".

While the former vice president did apologize for it, he stirred up the controversy pot by making jokes about his behavior soon after. Clinton defended Biden’s character, saying in the interview that he is a "thoroughly decent human being who has served our country honorably and well for decades."

While he lost some standing on his polls recently, he still remains the top contender to win the Democratic nomination in 2020. Biden has performed well against Trump in head-to-head polls.

As he made his way to the top of polling for 2020, he has come in the crosshairs of his critics on the right. The site also reported that many claimed that he failed to respect others personal space. Trump, in the meantime, has continued to target Biden and is now in the middle of the Ukraine controversy.

He faces an impeachment inquiry for allegations that he put pressure on Ukraine's  President to look into Biden's son, Hunter's business dealings.
