'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series': Ricky and Gina have a budding romance and fans are not shipping it at all

'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' returned to our screens on Friday for an all-new episode titled 'Wild Cats'. And this week, though situations weren't right, and things were all turned upside down when the episode began, in the end, everything turned out fine, or did it?
Last week we witnessed the students attend their homecoming, with Nini (Olivia Rodrigo) and Kourtney (Dara Renee) having a girls night out along with their drama teacher Miss Jenn. Meanwhile, EJ (Matt Cornett) takes Gina (Sofia Wylie) to the homecoming hoping it would create a wedge and help him get back with Nini. Ricky (Joshua Bassett) goes to the homecoming with his best friend. Carlos dances like nobody's watching, having fans ship him and Seb. Ricky and Gina bond after he gives her a ride home. By the end of the night, Miss Jenn gets a call from the principal hinting that she is in trouble.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen a lot of plotting and scamming amongst the students. But this week, though things started out in a rough patch, eventually it all came to a happy ending. This week brought out the team efforts in all the cast members as they joined together to save Miss Jenn from getting fired because she lied in her resume. During the school board meeting, the students convince the board that Miss Jenn deserves to stay and not be fired just because of what was written in her resume.
As the episode continued, we saw the bond between Ricky and Gina also grow. It looks like Gina is growing some strong feelings towards Ricky while he seems to be confused with his feelings as he is caught between Nini and Gina right now. While Ricky tries to figure out his feelings, Nini finds out that there might be something between Ricky and Gina, with how close they have become overnight right after the homecoming.
Could there be a possibility that the season might end with Ricky and Gina getting together, and Nini getting back together with EJ? Though the possibility of this might be in the works, fans aren't in favor of that.
Taking to Twitter post the episode, fans claim that Ricky and Gina should not get together. Apart from that they also shared their disappointment after seeing Nini get heartbroken seeing Ricky and Gina together.
"Okay my thoughts are that i love gina and ricky and i got feels from them but nini and ricky for the long game #HSMTMTS," wrote a fan. Adding to that another said, "I dont like gina and ricky together :/ nini and ricky are literally endgame, why are they playing us like this? #HSMTMTS."
"I don't like where this Ricky and Gina thing is going at all. #HSMTMTS," a fan wrote.
Apart from Ricky and Gina's budding romance, we also got to see one OG cast member from the 'High School Musical: The Musical' make an appearance during the board meeting and that was none other than Kaycee Stroh. She played the role of a board member who reveals the decision to let Miss Jenn stay and not get fired.
