'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Episode 4 is full of emotions, conflicts and tears that will tug your heartstrings

Disney+'s new fan-favorite series 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' returned on Friday, November 29, for an all-new episode.

Last week we saw things take a turn in Nini (Olivia Rodrigo) and her new beau EJ's (Matt Cornett) relationship after he deletes the voicemail Ricky (Joshua Bassett) sent to Nini pouring his heart out.

Going back from where they left off, this week's episode had a little more drama but this time it was between EJ and Nini. Gina (Sofia Wylie) is also back to her regular antics of trying to get Nini to quit the play just because she wants the part of Gabriella.

But apart from that, there was a lot that went down for Ricky especially in this episode, that would pull on anyone's heartstrings.

Earlier when the series premiered, we got to know that things between Ricky's parents weren't good with his mom in Chicago and away from him and his dad. This week, she returns, only to break the news to Ricky that she and his dad are getting a divorce and she will be moving back to Chicago, this time permanently.

EJ, on the other hand, lets it slip that he was the one who poisoned the girl who played the lead in the play at camp so Nini would get the part, but that just makes things worse.

As much as he tries to convince Nini he did it all because he loved her and was spiraling, she doesn't take heed. She breaks things off between them and ends up blocking his number.

In this week's episode, we don't get to witness much from the practice scenes of the OG musical the students are preparing for. It was more of just the drama revolving Ricky, Nini, EJ and Gina.

Gina who is still stubborn to get the part of Gabriella convinces EJ to take her to the homecoming as part of her next plan, and we can't wait to see how far she is willing to go just for the lead role, and how long this is going to continue.

Meanwhile, Ricky doesn't want to go home for the night, so instead, he ends up going to Nini's house and asks her mom if he can crash there for the night. Prior to that, we see Nini perform an original song depicting her pain that EJ caused.

It is a good twist to the series, adding original soundtracks and not just sticking to the OG musical soundtrack. After Ricky goes to her house, the two share a brief moment and almost end up kissing only for Nini to back off.

When she goes to get Ricky a pillow, he goes away. She then performs another original song sharing how she still has feelings for him, but it won't make any difference until he makes it halfway.

Watching this week's episode, fans took to social media sharing how they feel Ricky's emotions. Some also shared that they hope Ricky and Nini get back together.

"All Ricky wanted was for his mom to be back home. for all of them to be reunited. it breaks my heart to see him like this. #HSMTMTS," a fan wrote. Another fan said, "I just wanna give my boy Ricky a hug. He doesn’t deserve this  #HSMTMTS #blocking."

"Nini and Ricky will always be here for each other whatever happens. you can see how much love and care they still have for one another. this scene was hands down the most beautiful one in this episode. #HSMTMTS," shared a fan.

Another wrote, "Ricky's safe place being Nini bc when she's with her he feels more comfortable to talk about stuff and she's the only one that makes him feel better, and she's always there for him even tho she wasn't having a good day either bye #hsmtmts."

"Nini & Ricky almost happened. The is messing with my emotions! #HSMTMTS," wrote a fan. 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' airs every Friday only on Disney+.
