Spoiler-free Preview

There is a brutal, spine-chilling murder in a small mining town in the slate-strewn mountains of Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales. The death has left the community scared and the police racing against time to nab the perpetrators. But how to explain the murder?

As Acorn TV’s award-winning BBC One Wales psychological crime thriller 'Hidden' returns for Season 2, ready yourself for nail-biting suspense and a twisted story that will leave you hooked. There is a reason the series is one of the most acclaimed Welsh hit dramas of 2018, and a winner and four-category nominee of the prestigious BAFTA Cymru Awards (including Best Actor and Best Actress). And it is safe to say that with Season 2, award-winning co-creator and producer Ed Talfan, takes it up a notch.

Ace detectives DCI Cadi John (Sian Reese-Williams) and DS Owen Vaughan (Siôn Alun Davies) are in mad pursuit of the perpetrator of the brutal killing of a retired, reclusive chemistry teacher. The six-part series, partly in English and Welsh, dives immediately into the murder that has left the entire town speechless. An anonymous phone call is placed to the police station about a local retired chemistry teacher, Geraint Ellis. When authorities arrive at the scene, Ellis is found brutally murdered in his bathtub - killed in a way that shows no conscious, no remorse.

Soon enough, rumors about the victim - begin to emerge. While Cadi and Vaughan begin digging deeper into their new case, they don't know that they are in for a surprise. Three teenagers - Mia Owen (Annes Elwy), Connor Pritchard (Steffan Cennydd) and Lee Williams (Siôn Eifion) seem to be eerily connected to the killing.

As the detectives return in the roles, they have their fair share of personal troubles. Newly-promoted Cadi is grieving over the recent death of her ex-police detective father and is lending some much-needed emotional support to her family. On the other hand, Owen is trying to adjust to caring for his newborn baby girl.

At the end of it, you're desperate for one main query to be addressed - was the victim targeted for previous sins, or an innocent man unjustly singled out?

Created and written by Talfan, and starring Annes Elwy, Steffan Cennydd and Siôn Eifion, 'Hidden' Season 2 is a series to look out for. Season 2 can be watched by itself as a standalone series since the action focuses on the season-long investigation. But you can watch a recap of the first season here

Series 2 premieres on Acorn TV on Monday, June 15, 2020, as a binge premiere, where the bilingual version - English and Welsh - with English subtitles will be released.
