Here's why 'GMA' stars Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos missed Memorial Day broadcast
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ (GMA) is synonymous with breakfast television in the US. The show has amassed a plethora of fans who tune in every morning just to witness some jovial segments while prepping up for their day. Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos have emerged as the two leading faces of GMA with Lara Spencer and NFL legend, Michael Strahan chipping in with their co-anchor duties. And when the two foremost stars are absent from a broadcast, the viewers get fidgety and question their absence, especially the ones without reason.
Robin and George were missing from Friday’s (May 26) episode of ‘GMA’ leaving fans to question their abrupt absence from the show. There is still no explanation about their non-appearance and the social media of both these television personalities fail to answer the burning question. However, a long-standing American holiday may provide us some clarity about the absenteeism of America’s beloved hosts.

Celebrating the ‘Memorial Day Weekend'
Robin and George were in the studio all week but it appears that the duo have decided to start their holiday weekend a little earlier than expected. May 29 i.e. the upcoming Monday, marks an important day in American history. It is celebrated as ‘Memorial Day,’ a federal holiday in the US for honoring and mourning the US military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Robin and George appear to have taken an extra day off from their busy schedules and skipped the Friday (May 26) broadcast to enjoy a long Memorial Day weekend. It’s still unclear whether Robin and George will return for Monday’s (May 29) broadcast.
During their absence from the May 26 broadcast, Whit Johnson and Juju Chang took Robin’s and George’s spots at the desk. Michael Strahan joined the two fill-ins, making him the only original host to be present during the broadcast. Juju is an ABC news anchor and a journalist on Nightline who serves as a fill-in host from time to time. However, Whit serves as the anchor on the weekend edition of GMA and is also a journalist on the Saturday edition of ABC News Tonight.
Michael Strahan is on the move
Michael has begun focusing on a new project away from ‘GMA’ and recently took to Instagram to promote his hosting gig on The $100,000 Pyramid. He announced that a new season of the show is coming, captioning the post: “Let the fun and games BEGIN! Get ready on July 9! I'm back to host #100K Pyramid on ABC!” Fans in the comments were thrilled for the former athlete. One wrote in an Instagram comment: “I can't wait and I'll be watching Michael Strahan” while the other cheered, “Awesome we love you hosting it!" a second fan commented.”
