'Here's a cardinal sin as moderator': Megyn Kelly reveals ‘biggest’ flaw in third GOP debate
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly praised her former employer NBC for hosting the third GOP debate in Miami, Florida fairly and more importantly complimented them dearly for “not sounding like MSNBC”
While discussing the performances of candidates in the GOP debate, Kelly brought forth another interesting point. As per the veteran journalist, the element of “debate” was the one thing missing from the GOP debate.
The 52-year-old pointed out some discrepancies in NBC moderators’ approach to the debate and said that “there was a fire waiting to be caught” between two candidates but the moderators didn’t cash on it.
Megyn Kelly reveals the biggest problem with third GOP debate
Kelly started by complimenting NBC News for their commendable jobs with the third GOP debate.
At first, Kelly said, “You know I enjoyed watching the debate. All the questions were substantive and on point and I thought NBC surprisingly but most likely it was under fire, did a good job of not sounding like they were working for MSNBC that night.”
However, the former Fox News anchor pointed out a glaring flaw in the debate about the moderators’ approach and offered advice on how to deal with it.
“However here is a cardinal sin as a moderator. I’m asking you two guys questions and you are the presidential candidates and Emily you say something and Michael disagrees with you and he jumps in like no, actually that’s not what you said, I can say stand by, I’ll come to you next.”
Kelly continued, “But what happened last night was, he [Lester Holt] would jump in, and then he would stop and you would finish your point and then they’d look over the third person over there and say Hey You Bob! Here’s a brand new topic and there was a fire waiting to be caught, there was lighting in a bottle sitting right there."
She concluded, “And therefore what was missing from last night’s debate for the most part was - Debate”
Internet tells Megyn Kelly that they were watching Trump’s rally instead
Social media users flocked to the comment section to firstly remind Kelly that the third GOPdDebate didn’t look like a debate, a point which she made earlier, and second, they instead watched former POTUS Donald Trump’s rally.
One user said, “Newsflash Megyn...those are NOT actually Debates....but Q and A sessions with the Media”
A second wrote, “They are not ‘debates'. They are simply time for partisan (always) journalists to ask questions on a national stage. A true debate would allow the candidates to go back and forth at each on a single topic at a time.”
A third added, “WHAT DEBATE! I WAS WATCHING TRUMP” while a fourth echoed a similar sentiment, “I enjoyed the Donald Trump rally last night.”
Speaking about the GOP candidates in the debate, a user said, "These are nothing more than 4 people hoping for a job in Trump's next administration, and the guy who terrorizes all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants."
