Even demons can be human – that's the idea in Episode 5 of 'Helstrom'.

Episode 4 revealed the demon that is clawing away at Victoria (Elizabeth Marvel), the mother of Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana (Sydney Lemmon). Victoria has been languishing at a psychiatric hospital, with only brief moments of sanity before Kthara takes over. Kthara has taunted the two siblings mercilessly, including reminding Ana of the evil might have unintentionally unleashed. The demon is violent and abrasive, but there's a strange change in her when Louise Hastings (June Carryl) takes her out into the sun for a while. Louise notices the difference and says quietly, "You're different today..." and Kthara/Victoria explains how it has been such a long time since she has felt the sun and the wind like this. And then, she recalls the moments with 'Him', the Helstrom siblings' father, who we just know as a psychotic serial killer, and how he made her feel. She reveals that she had children, the whereabouts of whom she doesn't know anymore. Kthara's attitude is more gentle and nostalgic, and for a while we forget that she's a demon inside a helpless woman's body, almost killing her.

The demon returns in full swing when Louise takes her back inside the cell, and she begins to lose control. She demands the sun again, and to be free. She gives Louise a biting taunt about her cancer, and a shaken Louise tells the security guards to take her back inside. Kthara yells and screams, but it is of no avail.

It is in Episode 5, we see Kthara in her true form. Victoria struggles to fight her---the demon literally in her head, even though Kthara tells her that they both want the same things. They want their children, and they want to be fear of 'Him'----the father of the Helstrom siblings. There's more to be uncovered about Kthara as the series progresses. But...it just might be that Kthara isn't the demon that the Helstrom siblings need to track down. She might be the misdirect, and there's someone else at play.
