The official serving as President Donald Trump’s eyes and ears at the Justice Department has been barred from the building after allegedly attempting to pressure staffers to pass on information about election fraud and other matters which she could report to the White House, three people familiar with the incident told The Associated Press.

An ally of top Trump adviser Stephen Miller, Heidi Stirrup was silently put in at the Justice Department as a White House liaison a few months ago. As per the AP report, Stirrup, within the last two weeks, was asked to vacate the building after top Justice officials were informed of her attempts to gather insider information about ongoing cases and the department’s work on election fraud, the people said.

Stirrup is alleged of approaching staffers in the department demanding they give her information about investigations, including election fraud matters, the people said, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. It is also reported, she supposedly tried to extend job offers to political allies for positions at some of the highest levels of the Justice Department without discussing it with any senior department officials or the White House counsel’s office and also tried to interfere in the hiring process for career staffers, a violation of the government’s human resources policies, one of the people said.

The Justice Department declined to comment. And AP has tried to reach Stirrup for a comment, but has not heard back yet. On Thursday, December 3, Trump appointed Stirrup to be a member of the board of visitors of the US Air Force Academy, according to a White House press release.

According to AP, Stirrup, who previously was a key figure in the Trump administration’s push for immigration policies, technically still remains in her position after being placed at the Justice Department by the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. The report also states that the Trump administration has been trying to have liaisons report directly to the White House instead of the agencies where they work. Due to this there have been concerns, across the administration, that the liaisons were undercutting the work of not just of career professionals but also of Trump’s own political appointees.

In the past, Stirrup has served as the acting director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement and was also a deputy White House liaison at the Department of Health and Human Services.

People on Twitter were also discussing the news. One tweeted, “In the latest sign that Donald Trump’s influence over his own administration is continuing to wane, the Department of Justice has now banned Trump ally Heidi Stirrup from the building, after allegedly catching her trying to extract information about the 2020 election.” Another said, “Heidi Stirrup-S**t is an actual MAGA DOJ spy. Comedy writers can’t even make this stuff up.” One commented, “@realDonaldTrump Your really looking to get yourself in some serious trouble. Heidi Stirrup needs to testify before Congress immediately and have charges brought up against her if possible.”
