'AGT' judge Heidi Klum bizarrely compares The Otama Collective to a toilet tool
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: The Otama Collective is a trio of classical artists that auditioned for 'America's Got Talent' Season 19 on Week 2. The act was not well received by fans or judges, and Heidi Klum found it particularly difficult to endure.
The three members of The Otama Collective approached the stage to share their "classically-trained" music with the public, with the judges stating that they were "ready for something great." The judges gave rapid red X buzzes to all three of them when they saw their plastic instruments decked out in hair and accessories to look like them.
Before it was announced that the group would not be continuing, Heidi said that they "sounded like a toilet plunger."
Who is The Otama Collective in 'AGT' Season 19?
Taylor, Nelson, and Sully, all Otamatone players, form the Otama Collective. They have a significant fanbase overall, although the organization itself looks to be new.
Nelson has 228 thousand Instagram followers, whereas Sully has 491.5 thousand TikTok followers. Nelson's version of "Bring Me to Life" on Instagram has received 1.4 million likes and 33.5 million views.
Sully's funny McDonald's Grimace Shake-themed video has 837k likes and 15.3 million views on TikTok.
What happens to the acts buzzed by 'AGT' judges?
Every judge has a buzzer that they may use during a performance if they don't think the act is worth their time, are not impressed, or think it's not good enough. A participant's performance ends instantly if every judge buzzes them.
Alex Zinger gets buzzed by 'AGT' judges over 'hammered-at-wedding' like dance
Prior to the trio, dancer Alex Zinger arrived to perform for the judges with hopes of making it to Hollywood. Heidi and Simon Cowell both struck their red X buzzers early in the dance, but Sofia Vergara insisted on allowing him to continue.
Simon eventually looked around and smiled along with the dancing audience, but Sofia and Howie pressed their buzzers as well. The judges claimed it was "not good," even if they loved it, and that it sounded like someone "hammered" at a wedding.
It goes without saying that this was a "no" on another opportunity to perform.
