CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA: On Sunday, November 12, Senator Tim Scott announced that he was leaving the 2024 presidential race while he was live on Fox News' 'Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy'.

The 58-year-old statesman's revelation of suspending his White House bid was so abrupt that even his campaign staffers were caught by surprise, as per the Daily Mail.

This development, which took place just four days after the third GOP debate, leaves Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Chris Christie to battle it out against the current frontrunner, former president Donald Trump.

Scott had showed up at the debate with his girlfriend Mindy Noce, 47, which ended months of speculation about his love life. He even posed for photos with Noce behind his debate lectern and briefly held her hand in a touching moment.

What did Tim Scott say on 'Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy'?

Referring to the beginning of his campaign, Tim Scott stated, "I love America more today than I did on May 22."

"But when I go back to Iowa, it will not be as a presidential candidate. I am suspending my campaign. I think the voters, who are the most remarkable people on the planet, have been really clear that they´re telling me, 'Not now, Tim'," added the Senator.

He continued, "And so I'm going to respect the voters, and I'm going to hold on and keep working really hard and look forward to another opportunity."

Scott went on to say, "The voters are really smart. The best way for me to be helpful is to not weigh in on who they should endorse."

He further stated, "Being vice president has never been on my to-do list for this campaign, and it's certainly not there now."

After the third GOP debate, the viewers' poll ranked Scott in fourth place, just above Christie. DeSantis came out top, while Haley and Ramaswamy jointly took second place.

Internet reacts to Tim Scott dropping out of the 2024 presidential race

Soon after the news of Tim Scott's decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race came to light, netizens flocked to slam the Senator.

One said, "He was a flop anyway," while another added, "Now he can spend time getting to know his "girlfriend"," hinting at Mindy Noce's presence at the third GOP debate.

"Long overdue. His performance in the last debate was horrendous. Every time he spoke I felt like falling asleep. No enthusiasm. He’s nothing to be excited for," opined a person.

A netizen posted a meme of them pretending to be shocked over Scott's announcement, as one more wrote, "He should work on himself he has zero enthusiasm."
