WASHINGTON, DC: Florida Republican Rep. Brian Mast has sparked a furious backlash after absurdly comparing Palestinian civilians to Nazis in a wild tirade on the House floor.
The 43-year-old Republican made the inflammatory remarks while debating his bill — the Hamas International Financing Prevention Act that would impose sanctions on foreign support to militant groups like Hamas.
“I think when we look at this, as a whole, I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians, as is frequently said,” Mast stated, adding “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”
Rep. Brian Mast says there are no “innocent Palestinian civilians” in the same way that there were no “innocent Nazi civilians” during WW2.

“There are very few innocent Palestinian civilians. I haven't seen the videos of the innocent Palestinian civilians who were out there trying to protect the Israelis, that were out there trying to stop the attacks,” he continued, according to Daily Mail.
Mast also accused the Palestinian Authority, which controls the West Bank, of spreading antisemitic teachings. He continued by expressing that Palestinians who are explicitly part of Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an affiliated extremist group, could still “absolutely be considered a terrorist.”
Brain Mast wore his IDF uniform
A few weeks ago, Mast, who is also the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight & Accountability, wore his military uniform from his time with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to work on Capitol Hill.
"As the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, I will always stand with Israel," he wrote on X.

Mast also lost both of his legs during a blast while serving in Afghanistan, and volunteered with the IDF in 2015.
His remarks were made just one day after an Israeli raid on a northern Gaza refugee camp killed several civilians in addition to a Hamas leader, according to Gaza officials.
Israel claims Hamas intentionally hides among civilians and it warned Palestinians to move south days ago.
Congress is currently grappling with emergency Israeli aid. The House is set to vote Thursday on a $14 billion package that would be offset by cuts in funding to the IRS.
Internet reacts to Brian Mast’s remarks
After Mast’s remarks surfaced on social media, several users slammed him for absurdly comparing innocent Palestinians to Nazis.
“Brian Mast should be deported,” one X user raged. “At a bare minimum, he should have been removed from his position when he walked in wearing the military uniform of another country. The least they could have done short of that would be to remove him from committee assignments,” a second comment read.
“This is just rank Nazism come home to roost in Congress. Disgusting,” another tweet asserted while a fourth person commented, “This sort of commentary really opens up the playing field on who is a valid target.”
“Brian Mast is a Jew puppet, full-on Zionist, and wannabe Jew who walked around the halls of Congress with an IDF uniform on,” the fifth user fumed. “Is he vaguely retarded?” one more said.

Disgusting.
