Luca Guadagnino is keeping the deets on the 'We Are Who We Are' finale pretty close to his chest. As well he might because, as of now, there are quite a few loose plotlines waiting to be tied up. In last week's episode, we saw Danny step into his faith as a Muslim more solidly. We have no idea how his stepfather Richard is going to deal with that. Especially after his precious daughter Caitlin cut her hair and is acting rebellious. Craig's death has also created new fractures within the base and upped the tension -- the aftermath of his death nearly forced even Caitlin and Fraser apart, until they find each by the end of last week's episode.

We also had Fraser bail on an 'almost' threesome with Jonathan and his gal pal Martha. So we don't quite know how he and Jonathan will put a pin in that situation. But the biggest loose end that will need to be dealt with in the finale is the fate of Caitlin's family. After Richard's insubordination, and with Jenny and Maggie breaking up, it is no longer possible to be neighbors and Maggie suggested transferring the family out of the base by pulling some strings so that they don't have to deal with them anymore.

This also means that Fraser will have to let Caitlin go. In the trailer, it isn't made apparent if they know about this transfer and whether the out-of-town trip they take is their way of going out with a bang. It is also not clear if they have their respective parents' permission for the trip. What we do see is an alarm go off on Caitlin's phone letting her know about the Blood Orange concert in Bologna. Since the start of the series, Blood Orange's music and lyrics have been motifs for pivotal 'mind moments' for Fraser and by extension, Caitlin. In fact, Blood Orange's Devonté Hynes has also released an album featuring 12 pieces written by Hynes for the coming-of-age drama.

So it's fitting that the duo will attend a Blood Orange concert in the finale, where things will go down. The two are on their own as they travel on trains and hitchhike to reach the concert. Far away from others who would define them, be it their parents or their friends, this is the first time that the two have the freedom to be themselves without needing to conform. As they rock out at the concert, booze flows freely as Fraser flirts with a boy who is his age -- probably as a reaction to his infatuation with the much-older Jonathan that feels too overwhelming for him at this point in time.

Caitlin, with a badly drawn beard, catches the eye of the sexy bartender. They both flirt with gestures across the crowded floor. Eventually, we see the bartender lead Caitlin out of the venue to her own place. They start to make out but Caitlin suddenly seems to have second thoughts and walks out. In the next scene, we see her at the station with Fraser but sans her beard make-up. She turns to Fraser and asks, "you like me like this?", to which Fraser replies, "Are you still you?" This hints at the idea that Caitlin is abandoning her desire to become a man and is still working out how she wants to present to the world. Fraser, who has been encouraging her on her genderqueer journey, is understandably wondering why Caitlin has changed her mind. What could be behind her change of heart? We will find out in the series finale.

'We Are Who We Are' Episode 8 finale will air on October 3 at 10 pm ET.
