Get out your best evening wear and ready your cocktail orders, because 'Sex And The City' might just be returning on HBO's most prominent streaming service, HBO Max. The long-running popular series, which inspired two movies that served as direct sequels to the show, could be returning for a limited run series on HBO Max with the original cast reprising their roles one more time — well, most of them, anyway.

According to Page Six, a "well-placed industry insider" claims that the series will be returning for a limited run, not unlike the 'Gilmore Girls' or 'A Year in the Life' revival in 2016. According to this insider, the series will see all of the original cast return, apart from Kim Cattral, who played Samantha Jones and has repeatedly stated that she will not be returning to the series no matter what after a very public feud with Sarah Jessica Parker who allegedly treated Cattral terribly on set.

The other actresses who are involved with the franchise have already expressed their interest, however. Sarah Jessica Parker, who starred in and was also a producer on the show, said that she'd be interested in returning to the series — though not as a reboot, but a "revisit", something that a limited-series run would perfectly fit the bill for.

As she told Entertainment Tonight in 2019, "I’d like to see where all of them are. I’m curious, the world has changed even since the movie… technology and social media.” Adding in “sexual politics and the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up… I think Carrie Bradshaw would just be so greedy to share her feelings and thoughts.”

While HBO Max hasn't confirmed the story, fans online are already down on the idea of the show without Kim Cattral in it while many also believe the remaining cast is too old. "There is no sex and the city without Samantha Jones. She literally was the “sex” in sex and the city. And Big prolly like 80 now," wrote a fan. "We do not I repeat we do not NEED a sex and the city reboot sans Kim Cattrall it won't fly and they're too old now," wrote another. "A Samantha-less 'Sex and the City' would be a puritanical bore, thank you for your time," wrote a third.

Can 'Sex And The City' really work without the one character fans are convinced embodies the title's "Sex"? As far as fans are concerned, the answer is a resounding "no."
