'Hawaii 5-0' Season 10 Finale: Fans pick their favorite moments, say 'Fridays will never be the same'
For 'Hawaii 5-0' fans, their Friday nights will never be the same. CBS reboot of the hit police procedural that aired its first episode in September 2010 will finally end after an illustrious decade run. The original series kicked off in 1968 and lasted till 1980.
'Hawaii 5-0' follows an elite police task force that keeps a check on major crimes in Hawaii state. Led by Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin), a Navy Reserve Lieutenant Commander, and assisted by Detective Danny Williams (Scott Caan), and other police officers as they fight crime and corruption.
After 10 scintillating seasons, the action-drama will finally draw its curtains with the season finale set this Friday. And to generate the excitement, the show's official Twitter page asked fans to list out their favorite moments getting them nostalgic as they remembered their choice moments.
For one fan, it was Steve and Danny's first meeting in the garage. "That first meeting in the garage. Steve: “You gonna call for backup?” Danny: “An ambulance.” Told us everything we needed to know about the future," she tweeted. What followed was fans then putting out their memories of the long-running cop drama. "One of my faves is from Season 1: the episode that ends with the circle of surfers in the water to scatter their friend’s ashes," a fan wrote.
"Mine has to be when Steve got shot in-plane and the plane crashed and Danny went down hard on the drug dealers who put Steve in the hospital and he did it with fractured ribs," said another. "Tough to pick a favorite but I’m going to say when Danny was camping with Grace’s Girl Scout troop. Tom Arnold guest starred and took one of the girls and Steve hostage," a fan posted. Here's a tweet from the fan who loved the intro: "My favorite was that first music intro with that familiar theme song on the first episode!"
For one fan, in particular, picking one moment was hard. "Can almost every moment count?! I love this show and each character on the team. Thank you for all you've given us and know that my lineup sure will be empty without you!!" she tweeted. Another fan picked this as her favorite moment: "My favorite scene would have to be all McRollins scene, all the McDanno scene, all the McEddie scene, and my all-time favorite would have to be all the Ohana scene."
"When Danny was using the bow & arrow against the guys that stole his car," reminisced a fan. Here's a fan who had a few, "A few of my fave scenes: the end of the NK ep, the reveal of Shelburn, the entire Pearl Harbor episode in season 4, the 100th episode, the reveal of the origin of Grace’s name, everything with Adam and Kono." Just the Steve-Danny bromance was enough for this fan who said: "All of the Dano/McGarrett banter. I love those two and their bromance. #H50."
If these were some of the fans' favorite moments, there were still some who were in shock about the series coming to an end. "Still hard to believe the last episode will be Friday. This show has been so great. And it’s been one my wife and I watch together every week. Gonna miss this show so much. Thanks for all the great episodes!!" a fan tweeted. "This is going to hurt almost as much as it did when M*A*S*H went off the air in 1983. Love HFO!!!" another fan opined.
"What am I going to do without this show?? I hate that it’s ending!! You didn’t even give us a warning you could’ve told us last season so we could prepare ourselves this really sucks I am so bummed out!!" a fan wrote.
"I am really sad that the show is ending. Been watching since day one and this is hard. A huge thanks to all the actors of this show! It has been a fun ride," a fan tweet read.
In a recent interview with TVLine, showrunner Peter M Lenkove shed light on why the series was ending. "I thought we had a chance of maybe going another season — every season, I thought for some reason the show would end — but I think the network just thought it was a good time," he said.
"There are so many different things that factor into this — economics, everything — and I think they felt it was the right time."
