LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix’s newest and possibly the most controversial documentary series ‘Harry & Meghan’ is creating a lot of buzz across the globe with a lot of bombshell revelations. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are undoubtedly two of the most talked-about celebrities and whatever they do becomes news. Recent years have been really tough for the couple as they faced a lot of backlash from the British media for everything they did and things became so serious that they decided to move away from the royal family. Now, the couple is opening up about why they took that drastic decision and how the media continues to target them with fake claims in the newest documentary that has already shattered a monumental record on the streaming platform.

The first of the docuseries premiered on Netflix on December 8 and aired three episodes. Although it took some time to gather steam and claim the first spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list, it managed to surpass all the expectations in terms of viewership. However, the docuseries is in no mood to stop at all and has created a record that might not be broken in the near future.

The first three episodes of the documentary series logged 81.55 million viewers hours after its debut on Thursday, December 8. The streamer also noted that a total of 28 million households saw at least part of the series. The biggest takeaway from the viewership numbers is that the series had the “biggest debut week” for a documentary in the history of Netflix.

Meanwhile, the series is in Netflix’s Top 10 in over 85 counties, including the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, India, Singapore, UAE, Australia, New Zealand, and more.

This is the first that the viewership numbers for a documentary series have been revealed by Netflix as it made its way to the top of the charts.

The docu-series is one of the most polarizing shows of all time and gathered mixed reviews from viewers. In the first three episodes, we saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex disclosing a lot of unknown facts, with Markle recalling the time when she received her first death threat.

‘Harry & Meghan’ currently holds a rating of 45% on the review site Rotten Tomatoes.

The second batch of ‘Harry & Meghan’ episodes will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on Thursday, December 15.
