PHOENIX, ARIZONA: 71-year-old Harold Treadwell, who was working with rideshare service Lyft, was shot dead just moments after he called his wife to wish her a happy 52nd wedding anniversary on July 28, police said.

According to investigators, Treadwell was driving for Lyft near Baseline Road and 32nd Street on Sunday when he was shot.

Officers say the gunshot came from outside Treadwell's car at 12:32 a.m.

Both Lyft and Phoenix Police shared that there were no passengers in the car at the time of the shooting.

According to Phoenix Police spokeswoman Sgt. Margaret Cox, the police have no information about any suspect and the investigation is still ongoing.

"Mr. Treadwell had a gunshot wound to his upper torso," Cox told ABC News.

"The gunshot came from outside the vehicle. We don't know much more than he suffered a gunshot wound and died."

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Treadwell's family with his funeral expenses.

On the site, his wife Frances wrote, "Today is our 52nd Wedding Anniversary and we spoke right before he was killed and wished each other a happy anniversary (thank you God for allowing me to have that last conversation with him so I could tell him that I loved him!) I feel like I am living a horrible, horrible nightmare and that any moment I will wake up!"

Frances also shared with PEOPLE that Treadwell was dead five minutes after he had called to wish her a happy anniversary.

It is not clear whether he was targeted or whether the shooting was random. Frances is hoping that witnesses will come forward and help the police find her husband's killer.

Lyft has also added that they are offering their support to the distraught family.

The company said in a statement, "We are deeply saddened and shocked by this loss. Our sympathies go out to the loved ones of Harold Treadwell and all those impacted by this tragedy. We are actively assisting law enforcement and will continue helping in any way we can."
